This is a decent hutch, big enough for one regular size bun or two dwarf. May not stand up to much winter weather due to light weight wood, probably best under a porch or in a barn during winter weather. I'll be a little surprised if this thing holds up during the life span of the bunnies.

Arrived with a lot of little nicks/dings/scratches. Shipping box was undamaged so this was minor factory damage. The pre-installed hinges on one of the roof panels had pulled off and all the screws were completely missing. A lot of holes that were supposed to be pre-drilled were non existent. All things that should have been easily caught and corrected before being shipped. Luckily there are a few handyman types in our house so we were easily able to do this ourselves. Otherwise it was easy enough to assemble.

Directions for adding the roof panel supports/hinges need to be clearer and again, no pre-drilled holes where they were supposed to be. You'll probably need a little drill to put this thing together!

Agree with other review that the upper level needs additional ventilation in warm climates, we cut out another window in ours.

So, decent hutch and not that hard to put together if you can handle some minor drilling.

Update: I have now had this hutch for a little over a year. Our rabbits really like all the space and seem happy with their homes. They especially enjoy chewing on all the wood! The wood is very soft and they have a great time chewing the heck out of it! I also bought the exercise pen from Ware that can also be used with this hutch, again, chewed the heck out of it, but it's still standing. I moved the hutch into our barn for the winter because it just is not weather/wet resistant at all. Wood against wet ground = rotten wood.

I'm surprised at the mixed reviews on this hutch. My bunny absolutely loves this hutch, so much so that he never wants to leave it. I like to leave the door open for him to run around our fenced backyard but he prefers to stay in the hutch burrowing around downstairs and then heading upstairs to relax and eat. It's like his own little apartment. When he was inside the house he was litterbox trained and he's created his own little area downstairs to go to the bathroom so there is no clean up for me anymore as he never uses the bathroom in the upstairs portion and downstairs he digs a whole, goes in it then covers it up and starts again. The only downside is that he chews on the hutch a little bit which is really my fault for not providing enough edible wood or him to chew on. Now that I have a couple bundles in the hutch he's stopped knawing on it. Overall great hutch and I would purchase again.

This rabbit lodge certainly looks very nice - but don't let that fool you into buying this without weighing the pros and cons!

- Very cheap wood - you can break most parts with your hands easily if you tried.
- Some parts were already broken on arrival, not key parts though thankfully - hopefully nothing too important breaks for future buyers.
- Instructions are primarily in German - there are English "summaries" of each step but they're not detailed at all and a lot is left up to common sense.

- When finished, the lodge looks beautiful.

I bought this enclosure because I was getting my girlfriend a bunny lodge/bunny rabbit for her birthday. My overall experience has been neutral because I haven't had any HUGE problems yet other than inconvenience. I was able to muddle through the instructions and get it built, the broken pieces weren't of large importance, and thankfully the rabbit we adopted has no front teeth so he can't do any damage to the cheap wood.

I bought another hutch lock for the second floor because the designer thought it'd be a good idea to have one lock for BOTH swinging doors. Rabbits are smart animals and if pushed the right way, the locks can be jiggled loose. The only plus about the cheap wood is that you can easily install addons to this cage without guide holes because the screws will push in with ease.

Because of my unique situation, this cage has been alright so far - I can see that for most people though, some of the hardships described here can / will be real problems.

This hutch came with what appeared to be instructions, but actually weren't much help when none of the panels are labeled. You have to hold up a piece and look at the picture, back and forth till you figure this must be the piece they're showing....right? I had it together in about an hour with some help from my husband, and it looks great. I went over the outside surfaces with thick polyurethane to help it hold up to the unusually wet spring we are having and so far it's working. Some suggestions I have are running a piece of weatherstripping along the roof peak where the two sides of the roof lay, one on top of the other. The reason being that when it rains, water splashes or seeps into the hutch along that roof peak. I will also be adding a drip rail right above the door that will stick out at least an inch, unless I can find/make one that extends out further. This is also because of the rain dripping/blowing into the hutch. I want my bunnies to stay dry in the upstairs area, and lately central Texas feels like a rain forest. I have also punched small holes in the corners of the large plastic pan to allow for drainage of the rain water, which is working well. I keep one Dutch male and one small breed(?) male together in this hutch, but that is only because I have built a long run/yard for them to play in. If you don't have an extension play area, I would suggest only one large rabbit or two small rabbits for this hutch size. This hutch also comes with a partition wall that is removable, I don't use it because my bunnies seem to prefer the openness of the area without it. One other thing, I tightened every screw that was factory-placed, I know this can be time-consuming but once this hutch is together it's very difficult to get to some of them if they wiggle loose later.Read more ›
