Go ahead and mop on the sauce! The thick silicone bristles of these pastry brushes clean up easily. Sturdy enough to handle heavy barbeque sauce and gentle enough to butter pastry, these brushes will be a welcome addition to your kitchen.

They do not hold onto marinades well, which is expected, and they do more of a "moving" action instead of a "brushing" action. If you happen to have garlic chunks in your marinade, expect them to either stay in the brush, or just get moved around a lot.
The heads can be removed (though not easily) to be cleaned a bit better, but make sure you rinse the brush well before you put them in the dishwasher, the silicone loves to hang onto things and make a film.
I would still recommend these brushes to people as they are good brushes. It just takes a few times to work out the quirks so they can be used with ease. They are also MUCH easier to clean and more sanitary than your normal bristle brushes.
#1 I find they are great at removing batter or whipped cream from a bowl.
#2 I also love them for stirring, turning, frying food in a seasoned cast iron dutch oven or skillet. They do not destroy or scrape off that wonderful seasoning on your cast iron cookware.
#3 I like to use them for stirring, turning or cooking food in a non-stick pot or fry pan. They do not damage the non-stick surface of your pot or pan.
