I was simply blown away by this pianist's readings of these gorgeous preludes! From the first prelude (the infamous C# Minor) I knew this was a special artist. Not only does she have the requisite technical prowess to make it through this finger-busting lot, she also has passion which is so rare among the current crop of young artists. I immediately obtained 2 of her other recordings (reviews to come!) I was so impressed. I looked up her biography on the other recordings and on wikipedia and I was not surprised to read she was a Curtis graduate as the school only takes the most gifted students.
These are simply some of the best performances of these works since the redoubtable Richter put down his take on them over a half century before! And she has a range of emotion from the ethereal beauty of the Op. 32 No. 5 in G major to the titanic bravado of the B-Flat Major, Op. 23 No. 2. She is expressive over the whole gamut of expression, not to mention her technique being first class!
This is one of the best traversals of the entire 24 I've ever heard. Do yourself a favor and get this recording immediately! You won't be disappointed!!
