I do have this rack for *cross-country* skis at our mountain cabin, and it works fine, but for downhill it does not work, and I would not recommend buying it.
For downhill I would recommend a tip rack and that's what I eventually installed. Unfortunately I had already hammer-drilled and installed a lag bolt in our concrete garage wall to anchor the 2x4 for the Racor rack.
- downhill skis
- downhill poles
- touring X-C skis with 75 mm bindings
It does not appear to work well for
- X-C touring or track skis with NNN bindings
- skate skis
- skis with Voile telemark release bindings
- X-C touring poles
- X-C track/skating poles
The skis want to slide out of the rack so I have to use a bungee cord to keep them from sliding out. It looks like the rack was designed before the advent of today's binding technologies with the toe piece that is raised so high off the surface of the ski, so there isn't enough contact/friction to keep the skis retained.
Minor complaint is that the bolts provided with the rack have heads that are made of relatively soft material and strip easily. I had to use a hack saw to cut one, re-position the rack and then use my own bolts to hold the rack in place.

This is a pretty good storage device. It holds teh skis and the boots with no problems. But the poles fall out of it ofter.Published on December 3, 2013 by duke1parkway

Overall the rack is great, a little more guidance in the instructions would have helped.Published on April 19, 2009 by Joseph Kane
How can i say this kindly.....it's just wrong. The rack spaces provided for the skis are too narrow to accomodate modern skis and bindings...end of story.Published on February 24, 2009 by J. Carson
What can you say about a ski rack? It hangs on the wall, holds my skis, boots, & poles, doesn't fall off the wall. Build quality is pretty okay, a little sub-par for the price. Read morePublished on February 20, 2009 by Charles Johnson
Very compact and efficient. Easy install. Does have some trouble with platform bindings. Would still recommend.Published on April 15, 2008 by E. Thompson
