I immediately dumped all of my Roswell and Farber ware knives and bought the starter set of Rada for about $60. I then bought a 6 pack of steak knives and a few others. i did consciously make the decision to dish washer them to turn the handles from super shiny aluminum to more dark. That's what we wanted.
In nearly 18 months, not a dab of rust. And they are super sharp!
I also got 2 of the potato peelers and man those things work slick! I have a contest weekly with my son peeling potatoes and carrots. he often wins.
Anyhow.... i now use these almost exclusively for everything. Occasionally i need to get down the Cutco knives, but it's pretty rare now. RADA are the knives of choice. I even buy them now as gifts for weddings, etc. Now and then i buy another 2 pack or so of knives to supplement my own set. :)
I will never, ever, buy knives again... if they are not RADA. We absolutely love them. I'm not going to get more, like the wisk and pizza cutter, cutting boards, etc.
We have a paring knife like this that I think my folks had from the 1970's, it is dulled in color but awesome for cutting up apples, fruits, veggies, etc. A woman at work several months back had a catalog and I bought one, and wanted some more.
The handle is polished aluminum, and the blade is thin and very sharp. It is hard to find a good paring knife at the general local store - most paring knife blades are too short, and also too THICK - so when you want to cut up an apple, say, it jams up and doesn't work very well.
We only hand wash them; the RADA site recommends to only hand-wash the aluminum ones. Then it is ready for action instead of having crusty old food on it...
These are thin and sharp, and are awesome for cutting up foods. The price is also very reasonable, more so for the 2-pack. Go ahead and buy 2, otherwise when you like the 1 then you'll have to pay another shipping cost. So overall, a very satisfied customer.
I did feel that it was attractive and definitely worth the price. I recommend that you keep it in the paper sleeve it arrives in or find a knife sheath that will fit.
