Eventually I figured out how to use the metal mounting bracket that holds the two original small suction cups to mount the 9500ix hanging down from this heavy duty mount. Just epoxy glue the metal bracket to the mounting plate! It's hard to describe, so I uploaded some photos to show how this works. This way, the 9500ix gets a completely unobstructed view of the front, and you can put the big suction cup and bracket behind the rear view mirror where it is not as noticeable and blocking your view of the road.
This way, the metal bracket slips into the slot at the top front of the 9500ix, and you don't need any adhesive velcro to attach the 9500ix to the mounting plate of this heavy duty mount.
The epoxy is barely noticeable - nevertheless, I painted it with some semi-gloss Testor's black model paint to protect the epoxy from being degraded by sunlight.
So far, the suction cup has worked well and is holding on tight to the windshield. With this arrangement, I can take the 9500ix off the mounting bracket using the release button for the small metal bracket rather than have to deal with velcro.
I have an Escort Passport 9500ix. I was using the windshield mount it came with. However, I noticed that it was rubbing up against my windshield when I drove and (I'm sure) in part to the dual 12's in the back. It was evident that continual use of the supplied windshield mount would eventually lead to a damaged windshield.
This dash mount is working great. It holds my radar detector perfectly still away from the windshield, while obeying one of CA's many ridiculous laws. Plus, it elevates the radar detector to the perfect spot in order to detect laser without jeopardizing radar detection.
I installed a 12v power split in my car same day & the 3M sticker came with it was really good, I have 4 devices attached to it, but it doesn't move (as a matter of fact i want to move it to different location, but I cant pull it off my dashboard :-).
STAY AWAY from this cheap product.

The suction is good, stays in place. Easy on & off & it's sturdy. But the way the notches are set the flat piece is never level enough on the dash for a radar detector, either a... Read morePublished 15 days ago by mr. mike
