AMD Radeon SSD is a Budget Champ!!

So, here is the deal. We've come to a point now where most any budget ssd gives excellent performance compared to good ole mechanical storage. Hands down. And this little guy is no exception. At 40.99 + Tax and free shipping I decided to use this little guy in a system build for a client of mine. Paired with an AMD A10-7860k APU & 8GB of Ram it's unstoppable. I'm completely impressed and it holds it's own against the Adata SP550, PNY CS1311 and even Samsung 850 EVO 120GB class drives. You just can't go wrong. Another reviewer, Chris, posted speeds of 535MB Read & 355 Write in Crystal Disk and I've gotta back him up. Here are my results.

So there you have it. This drive backs up it's Rated Speed of 520MB / 360 easily. Tested on an i5-6600k / Z170 based platform.
Boot times are stupid fast at 16 seconds to desktop in Windows 10 to 22 seconds fully loaded start up on the A10-7860k system it ultimately resides in. If you are an AMD fan and want to have a themed build or just curious about it. Give it a shot. It won't let you down.

Item received was just the bare drive packaged with no cables, software or screws. I used this to replace a mechanical hard drive with 16mb cache, 7200rpm, 250GB in an HP Elitebook laptop, circa 2012. Windows 7 installed and updated easily. Now that everything is installed (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Antivirus), it does not feel substantially different from the previous performance. It boots in the same 20-30 seconds, but then again, maybe there are things going on in the background that are running since it is a new installation. I have initial concerns that the upgrade from mechanical to ssd in a laptop which has capacity for only one drive is not the best since I have given up capacity and have not appreciated the blistering performance gains. I will update in a few months.

Drive only lasted 5 months before I'm having to return/send it out. Currently in the process of sending this to Canada for them to do testing on the drive I guess. I'm not necessarily knocking the drive, it is much faster than any mechanical HDD.

In retrospect I would've went ahead and skipped this drive and got at least a 240-250GB drive from a brand well known for consistency and endurance. Do your research, even certain brands from the big companies aren't the best. If anyone cares to know, I bought the Crucial MX300 with 525 GB of capacity to replace this drive. IF I ever get this drive back or replaced, I'll use it as a small secondary storage.

So far this drive works perfectly. I have 2 of these drives one for a media server and one for a NAS server for the OS and any additional hardware while all other files are on HDDs and I haven't had a problem booting into my OS or running any software so far. Since the servers are only for home use they are running weaker CPUs and this helps offset the low power CPUs for running software.
