Features include 1/4-inch input and thru-put, -15dB pad and ground lift, all of which are protected from damage via a protective front panel zone. The heavy-duty construction with baked enamel finish is designed to provide years of trouble-free performance. The Radial Pro DI is ideal for acoustic guitars, bass, keyboards and drum machines. Radial Pro DI Features Full range passive direct boxes Isolation transformer eliminates noise Very low harmonic and phase distortion Compact and rugged design Ideal for live sound and studio Since Radial introduced the JDI back in 1996, customers have asked them to produce a more affordable passive direct box so that home studios, small sound companies and community centers can enjoy some of the benefits of using a JDI. The Radial JDI is very special in that it employs a $100 Jensen Audio Transformer as the engine that performs the impedance conversion and the isolation. Radial searched high and low to find a more affordable alternative, but no matter how hard they looked, the quality was never close. The Jensen is truly perfect! This left Radial with only one choice: to have a custom-made transformer built to their specifications. Although not quite as good as the Jensen, this new transformer is light years ahead of the competition and features many of the attributes that makes the Jensen unique. The difference, however, is that now Radial can offer a direct box for less than half the price! The Radial Pro DI features standard hi-Z input and thru-put 1/4-inch connectors, -15dB input pad and ground-lift switch. The balanced output is 600 Ohm to interface with professional snake systems and consoles. All switches are recessed in a p

I keep this in my utility bag. Many venues already have a DI and I just use what they have. Some smaller places may have basic sound equipment though no extras like DIs or adapters. In a situation like this you may get through the show with no issues though after using this, I realize when going direct into a board DI isn't just convenient: it's a necessity. It makes a world of difference.
I played a spot recently and this box saved the performance: we were having issues with sound and once we were able to get signal there was a lot of extra noise. Using the ground lift eliminated the hum and buzzing and kept the guitar signal strong. I actually now prefer putting my guitar and vocals through a pa/mixer because it's less for me to carry to the place and exceptional sound. I would recommend this DI box as a great sounding and problem solving way to go direct in. I think it's the only way to go.
These boxes are compact and simple, they sound great with no audible noise, and they're solid as a rock. The Pro D2 stereo boxes are just as reliable, and I've purchased a few of those to cover our keyboardists and drum sets with success.
We have a couple powered Pro48 boxes that work well, but at some point I hope to have passive direct boxes exclusively, and leave the phantom power for our condenser microphones. These passive boxes are perhaps the most reliable component in all our sound equipment and I highly recommend to all musicians and venues, big or small.
This preserves the sound quality very well when running with 300ft of cable. No Noise as much as i can tell.
Would definitely buy again if My church adds another electrical instrument
