Brilliant combination of twin-stick shooting and Gauntlet-like gameplay.
Extended playability with New Game+ and Scorched Mode.
Welcome to Inferno+, the critically acclaimed twin-stick action-RPG title from Radiangames, creator of Slydris, Bombcats, and SideSwype. Inferno+ is an expanded and improved version of the award-winning Inferno on Xbox Live.
Blast your way through 40 atmospheric levels. Explore the gauntlet of stylish environments, destroy hordes of enemies, and upgrade your ship along the way. With 3 difficulty levels and New Game+, you'll be in for hours of enjoyment.
This is one of those games where you have to find out for yourself what to do, but here it's actually fun to find out without instructions. You will pass ingame info points that tell you more about various objects like mines. The setup is highly customizable, and the gameplay will let your adrenaline level skyrocket. Each level also has access to a shop where you spend virtual money on upgrades. Careful, upgrades only are activated when you spend your upgrade points on them! The most basic rule you need to know is the left virtual stick moves your ship, the right is for aiming. The controls need to be practiced but you will get along. Just one tip: you need to pass your ship over the "Key" symbols, disks showing a key, to be able to pass the barriers and reach the exit to the next level. Since you can play with different ships, it's a good thing that you have several gamesave slots. The sound is minimalistic but very hi-tech.
It's an action-packed shooter with garish, colorful graphics reminding of vector graphic arcade games in the 1980s such as tempest. It compares favorably to PewPew which has a similar principle but less variety. A keeper but a bit frustrating at first. The low contrast upgrade menu with its small font may be an issue on smaller screens, and some of the upgrades aren't self evident, you have to test the effect.
This is a fast action space weapons game with colorful graphics. The game has no instructions but it is one that you will enjoy learning how to play. The graphics are colorful and you are blasting your way from one end of the screen to the other. There are two controls and the left one moves your ship while the right one fires your weapons. Move your ship through the maze find and destroy your enemies.
There are disk objects in the maze that you have to collide with in order to get through the force field into the next level. The game is very fun but it is difficult. You can die quickly. The controls are designed very well and it is easy to control your ship. As your ship progresses through the game upgrade it with new features.
This game is designed in the same style as the old time arcade games of many years ago and it is fun to play and it is well designed. There are limited permissions and no adware or malware in the game. Download it now and enjoy it. 5 stars!
I was a bit bored with the mindless style of Alpha Wave and wanted something a bit more involved. Having been impressed with the gameplay and updates of Radiangames' Bombcats: Special Edition, I decided to look around at their other games. INFERNO+ was the one that caught my eye, and I am glad I waited- it's exactly what I had expected from the description and screen shots: fluid mega-eye candy shooter with RPG elements. Woot!
Network Permissions- Amazon's GameCircle is present; however, I only saw the initial popup at the load up. There wasn't any GameCircle spam during gameplay. There is also a More Games link that opens up the Amazon App Store. *There was a single popup for Radiangames' newest release, JOYJOY, as I was coming out of the Options screen to the Main Menu. It was the only time I saw one and frankly forgot about the single instance until I saw a review mentioning ads. It certainly cannot be construed as "spam" in the least, especially compared to what we have encountered in the past.*
The game does run at 173mbs RAM at idle, so it is on the HUGE side. Adjustments to the Graphics settings will help tremendously to those experiencing issues, including Particles Rendering (a typical suspect in game-crash causes).
A note about the New Game+ option that is initially grayed out. New Game+ is a traditional extended RPG gameplay mechanic that becomes available after you complete all the levels, letting you start over with ALL upgrades and such. I haven't seen this tried-and-true feature in Android games till now and look forward to it! The New Game profiles allow multiple separate games. The Options sub-menu provides sensitivity adjustments for both joysticks, fixed or dynamic, as well as graphical detail and difficulty selections.
Steering and shooting is smooth, explosions plenty, music/sfx pleasant and the upgrade system robust, including four basic ship configurations that you can swap out at the Shop. Minor in-game tutorial interface, but on the whole the game is intuitive. Shoot if it moves, and if it doesn't move, shoot it anyways! INFERNO+ is exactly what I have been itching for.
All the awesome graphics and sounds made me feel old school, like a spaceship fighter pilot, and mesmerized. It was great for playing 3 or 5 levels at a time, the coordination it takes is fun AND doable: I felt pretty sick dodging and blowing things away. Boss fights were really fun! CONS Probably too easy, but I played the easier mode The upgrade system is fun but pretty flat. After about like 50-100k has been invested, there's nothing else to spend your money on! I never bought a bomb or a key I didn't use my shield until the last level! So a lot of features are there and cool, but the game doesn't demand them. There's no plot whatsoever. Game is 40 levels, but when it's over, you feel like 'what! More game!!'
So I would consider this hopeful feedback to the amazing dev, because I loved the game and want more. I loved the simplicity and speed of play and lack of distractions, but perhaps a bit of plot (even just a bad robot clean-up man making a buck!) and more ability to spend money on upgrades.
