It could be argued that Obama’s past no longer matters, but, in a sense, it matters more than the present. Obama has adopted the gradualist socialist strategy of his mentors, seeking to combine comprehensive government regulation of private businesses with a steadily enlarging public sector. Eventually, in his hands, capitalist America could resemble a socialist-inspired Scandinavian welfare state.

The gap between inner conviction and public relations in Obama’s case is vastly wider than for most American politicians. A must read for those wishing to understand and know the truth about Obamas background from a young age up to now and most importantly, why he is the way he is and who created the man in the White House.
The media with held all of the facts and background regarding Obama. Facts that are easily checked and verified. All the answers to the many questions I had and how much better I felt about my feelings that "I wasn't imagining my concerns". We all have the right to be worried and should be, after reading this book.....

This book makes its case that Barack Obama is a lifelong socialist and has worked with Marxists over his whole adult life.

The book does not claim that Barack Obama is presently a doctrinaire Marxist - but rather that he is part of the broad family of Marxism and non Marxist socialism that has grown up in sections of American academic and political life.

Mr Kurtz does not waste his time on things that he regards as absurd (such as the claims of the "birthers") and he also does not examine charges that are simply not relevant to his thesis.

Mr Kurtz does not examine claims of Barack Obama's alledged corrupt activities (as such works as "The Case Against Barack Obama" and "The Culture of Corruption" do), and nor does Stanley Kurtz examine why certain big business enterprises (mostly Wall Street financial enterprises) started to finance Barack Obama from 2004 onwards (as the book "Bought and Paid For" does).

However, this is not a weakness in the book - it is a strength. Other books, such as "The Obama Timeline", include a lot of very good work - but by examining all charges (such as those of the Birthers) they lay themselves open to the attack that they SUPPORT all charges. This is mistake that Stanley Kurtz avoids.

Mr Kurtz set himself a specific task - to examine the intellectual background of Barack Obama (his belief structure) and he has done that.
