I did a lot of research on scooters before purchasing this on for my newly three year old. She wanted a scooter very much, so that she could be just like her 11 year old big sister. The problem was stability; most scooters either have two wheels (one in front, one in back) or three wheels (with TWO in back). Even with two in back, the scooters tend to wobble and tip. Not a good thing for a young rider.

Radio Flyer (of course!) solved the problem beautifully. They put the two wheels in front and gave the scooter a much wider base. The result is that this scooter is incredibly strong, stable, and safer than the competition. It comes fully assembled, and my young one was riding around on our back deck in a matter of moments.

This pink version is perfect for our little princess. And I can already tell, she is going to spend the summer chasing her big sister around the neighborhood. Luckily, big sister is okay with that!

We bought this for our 4 year old last Christmas. She loves to goof off on it around the house. But will not ride it the full block, much less to the park. It does not roll or turn as easily as she would like. (By contrast, she flies on her bike.)

Probably great for 2 or 3 year old beginners. Decent stability in that regard. But we're not impressed for the 4 to 5 year old set.

My daughter is turning 3 in a couple of weeks and wants a scooter for her birthday. I was looking for a sturdy, 3 year old safe, girly scooter. I found this one and have read so many good reviews about it. We tried it out at Walmart and it is awesome. Very cute and sturdy and she loved it. It's in hiding until her birthday.

FYI - I was baffled by the range in sticker price for the toy. I have seen prices from $29-$69 for this scooter. I bought a pink scooter at Walmart for $29.84. It took 3 Walmarts but I found one just today. Happy scooting!

It does not go at all! My 3 years old daughter can hardly move it forward, even if she did make it , the scooter stops shortly. So she just stands on it. I guess it's because this scooter has 3 rolls instead of 2, which give it more stability but much less flexibility. Anyway my daughter is very dissapointed and so am I. My daughter refused to try it anymore. We have to return it. So please save your money and time, buy a regular one.

My daughter will be 2 in a few weeks, and I bought a little tricycle that was for her age range. She couldn't work the pedals even though she could reach them. She just can't figure out the motion yet, and it always ended in frustrated tears. We started hiding it from her to avoid this. I saw this scooter...thought it was WAY overpriced but a good idea. Checked amazon, and sure enough it was half the cost. It arrived in two days, and my daughter hopped on and scooted herself after one short tutorial. She loves it and finally feels like a "big kid," because she can scoot around the neighborhood and the playground with the other kids. I would recommend this product to anyone with a toddler or preschooler. It's tall for her, but its so easy to maneuver. She's at a clumsy age, so I still make her wear her helmet and pads because she falls a lot in general still.

*** UPDATE *** After a couple of months, I'm happy to report that this scooter is still a hit, and with the number of toys that my granddaughter has to play with, that is really saying something. She spends a couple of hours a day riding, mostly in the house on hardwood and tile (the temps have been over 100 every day). The wheels have not damaged the floors in the least bit. Even at 3, she has improved to the point that she has been riding her older sister's 2-wheel Razor A2 Kick Scooter, also purchased on Amazon. Both scooters are among the best gifts I've ever purchased for them.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: This is a very nice, sturdy, and cute-as-a-button scooter. It is built well, which I expect with a Radio Flyer product. My 3-year-old granddaughter loves it. It was easy for her to use right away, though the steering in a turn will take a little practice before it is perfect. The good thing is that it is so much fun for her that she will put in the effort to master all aspects of riding. For the price, you won't find anything more fun, and it teaches patience and coordination. Excellent exercise too! Purchased the Giro Rodeo Youth Bike Helmet in the pink princess graphics to go along with this scooter and it coordinates wonderfully.

I bought this for my daughter for Christmas 2010, so she's been using it for a little over a year (she's 3.5 now). I really dislike this scooter. At first I was willing to blame 'user error' for the horrible turning capability, but this scooter really does not turn well at all. It is so clunky in its turns that it throws her off the scooter nearly every time (when she moves the handles to turn, it torques the scooter so that the opposite wheel lifts up). As it turns out, my neighbor - who has the red RF scooter for her son - has had the same problem with his. They can't get going very fast on this at all. Honestly I've been extremely disappointed with it. The only reason she uses it is because her older brother and his friends all ride their scooters and she doesn't want to be left out. I've finally convinced my husband that this thing is a safety hazard and I've ordered her a Mini Kick by Kickboard USA. I really regret not going with the mini in the first place as it isn't that much more expensive but it is a magnitude of difference in quality. If you are looking for a scooter, I highly highly recommend those. My son's MaxiKick is the envy of the neighborhood and now his sister's Mini will be too!
