Dangerous for younger toddlers who can't reach pedals.

Two stars are only for the quality. It's very well made in terms of materials but the execution is poorly thought out. First of all, my 14 month old does not even reach the foot rest and he is 32 inches tall! Second, this leads to my son putting his feet up on the area where it folds. This pinched his foot when turning (see example photo). So warning this is not safe for yonger toddlers who can't reach the pedals/footrest. My third complaint is that the stearing is stiff and when a I turn the handle bars it hits my son. He also makes stearing very difficult because I have to overpower him to turn. So in short, I do not recommend this for younger toddlers. Maybe for 2+ but definitely not the age recommended on the product. I highly recommend the smarTrike str 3 plus which we purchased from Sam's club for a fraction of the cost.

My son is 1 year now. Got him this trike for his bday. So I have to put those gray rail around the side so he doesn’t fall over. The problem is that the seat is so slippery his butt keeps on going forward and he can never sit straight and his legs come off the foot rest all the time. I had to put glue on the seat, that way it added more grip and my son is not slipping. Also the steering attachment for the parent keep on loosing grip and collapses all the time. I had to manually drill a screw in that to keep it not collapsing. Didn’t expect this from a $70 trike. Highly disappointed.

Funny thing is when I went on business trip to Asian in Jananury I can't help notice the Radio Flyer Trike there has the footrest! Too bad we can't have the same options here in the states!
Update on Feb.5.2018:
Our daughter is now 2yr 2 mo old, she now can reach the pandels and tries to ride the bike. I guess we waited it out and no longer need the foot rest. I see that now there is a buying option to install the footrest on previous models, we would use it lot more if it was a option back then. Regardless of my point of view, my daughter always gets very exciting to go on the bike.

We purchased as Christmas gift in 2016. Our 15mo baby likes it but there is no footrest. There is no place for our baby to rest her foot in. She can't reach the panel yet so her feet are dangling when whenever we take a walk around in the neighborhood. She looks very uncomfortable and she will even tries to find place to rest her feet, poor thing!By AJ on April 19, 2017
