Great buy! (but not the one pictured)

First of all, the item pictured is not the item I received; which is great because I wanted the one I got...a 33-2055. It works great! Gives me just the info I need and it stays ON until I am ready to turn it off. If the 33-2055's are still out there for purchase, I recommend them! I've added a photo of the item I purchased so you can differentiate from the photo in the review.

I used this in conjunction with REW to set up my home theater. It worked perfectly. I used an RCA cable to run from the line out on the Meter to my sound card on my computer. This will have to be purchased separately. Also, this does not come with batteries so you will need a 9 volt battery for this product.

Yeah that's it! Works great but can't see it!
Display is unlit...period.....Not back lit, not integer lit...nothing. AND the characters lack much contrast to boot. SO, BASICALLY THE DISPLAY STINKS. I have the analog version from years and years ago, and that works better because you can see the white dial background with the black pointer in foreground. It is also back-lit with the touch of a button. It's LOWTECH, but ends up being a better product. This product simply needs a lighted display to be practical!

Summary: It works, but in lower light....you're blind.

Great value for money. I use it to calibrate my home theater speakers, as recommended by established practices. Very effective for my purposes. Although I am sure greater precision may be had using much more expensive meters, the results provided by this bargain priced handy little meter are more than sufficient for non-professional uses to measure sound level.

I like the meter well enough - sure wish they still sold the old analog meter though. IMO it works better - this has to be set for a range and will not read outside of that range. Why is that? Doesn't make sense to me.

Bait and Switch Scam!

Works Okay. But I certainly wouldn't call this "New". This is the very old version radio shack used to carry.. Nothing like the item pictured. The one I got is Cat No. 33-2055 The one pictured is Cat No. 33-099. The box was also in poor condition showing that it's not new. Unlikely to have any kind of warranty from Radioshack. This is something I'd expect from a $5 item on ebay not a $40 item from amazon.
