- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2021This device was actually purchased based on a recommendation from a fellow AV Junkie. I was skeptical on its effectiveness but pleasantly surprised to find one of Radio Shacks last items to actually be quality in both form and function.
Pros:
1. Strong sturdy metal casing
2. 4 AV RCA outputs (With SVIDEO options)
3. Perfect zero latency video repeater
4. supports up to 4 displays
Cons:
1. Odd Shape
2. No Power Switch
3. Power brick is the wall wart kind
Conclusion:
If you're quite the AV nerd then this will help a lot with all of your RCA and SVIDEO needs. I actually use it to duplicate the signals from a game system to a CRT display and a capture device, something that can degrade using a non powered splitter. Ive used it to drive a capture device, 13" CRT, 5.5" CRT, and 32" LCD TV all at the same time with zero signal loss or degradation. If you can get past its nitpicks (which could easily be worked around by an enthusiast) then this is perfect for any retro AV setup! I strongly recommend getting this.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2020RadioShack, what an icon! After hours of testing, I have to say that this splitter works wonderfully.
Currently, I have a 8in 1out RCA splitter/switcher hooked up to multiple game systems. I have that 8in 1out splitter/switcher now plugged into this RadioShack splitter which I have outputted to 3 different tvs; a 2018 LED Westinghouse tv, a retro Sansui vhs/tv combo style tv, and an early 2000s crt Sharp tv.
The RadioShack splitter works great with all of them, so it'll work for both new tvs and older model tvs. It's also compatible with other splitters/switch boxes as the input. The picture is great and so is the sound quality. There is also no delay in the picture from what I could see. I tested this out by playing through the Flower Cup in Mario Kart Double Dash for the Gamecube as well as watched a few episodes of King of the hill via a dvd player and I couldn't see any issues.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2022I'm using this to connect a retro game console system to both a monitor and a video capture card. It works great! It even seems to automatically convert composite to s-video or s-video to composite (depending on which you have connected) which I didn't expect but was happy to discover. I did some A/B testing between doing a direct connection and going through this box and my eyes can't tell the difference. The case is hard plastic and feels pretty rugged, plus it has built-in mounting brackets. 100% satisfied.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2022This is an awesome product where I connect a retro game console (AV or S-Video) to this AV amplifier before that's connected to my TV and DVD recorder (which is then connected to my HDMI splitter and then a capture card). Good results when it comes to capturing gameplay footage for one of my ongoing playthroughs on my list, especially when I play GBA games on the GB Player a lot.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2017I work for a medium sized conference center with multiple rooms and from time to time, we have events that require all rooms to have the same audio (usually music) playing at the same time. This device is slick and simple, it takes a single input and allows you to distribute it to 4 outputs. It does not require video to be connected if you wish to use audio only.
Haven’t tried the video part (have no use for analog video in this day and age), but as for the audio, there is no loss of volume, and it sounds just as it should if you plugged the source directly into your speaker amp/mixer.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2020I had been looking for an audio distribution amplifier to enable me to feed 3 power amps without a huge drop in signal strength. This equipment seems to be working well for that application. It does have a video set of outputs too, but that is not what I wanted/needed, so can't really review that capability. I had tried to just split the one audio output to feed the amps, but the loss in signal made that option less than desirable. It has been very hard to find equipment that distributes audio output at line level and was glad to find this solution to my dilemma.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2021I fed it a quality S-video signal over expensive shielded cables and it spat out an image that is worse than composite video. Tracked down an Extron distribution amp instead, and I would much sooner recommend going down that route than even considering this awful product. Radioshack deserves a better legacy than this thing.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2018This worked exactly as posted - One input jack with 4 simultaneous output jacks going to 4 different pieces of equipment -all at the same time. With good-quality AV cables, the sound on all speakers is excellent with this Radio Shack AV-video splitter. There is no A-B-C-D switcher on this Radio Shack item, so it is designed for all outputs to have the same simultaneous sound and/or video at once. I used it to connect my multi-disk CD player (input) to 2 outputs: 1.) a powered auxiliary receiver with one wireless outdoor speaker and 2.) stereo receiver with connected indoor speakers. Problem happened because of a new large screen TV with no audio output jacks! (I used to have the wireless speaker/receiver connected to a previous TV, so I could have music on the TV screen as well as outdoors.) This Radio Shack 4-way splitter allowed me to reroute my sound capacity, with 2 output jacks still available if I want to add equipment. Very good solution for $17!

FREDERIC B.Reviewed in Canada on May 16, 20215.0 out of 5 stars Works as intended
I'm using this active splitter to connect multiple videogame consoles together on my TV, my capture card and my bluetooth transmitter.
I'm mixing both composite and s-video connections at the same time all coming from the same switch. It works wonder as long as there is only one console feeding a signal at a time. The splitter takes either composite or s-video and it outputs composite AND s-video, effectively converting composite to s-video or the opposite.
The end result is A1. As always, watch for your cables as one of my RCA composite video just broke on me after working intermittently.
One thing I would note though is that you can effectively simplify all your connections to only one s-video cable as input on your TV but doing so will make the image from composite sources a tad different. This is nothing really bad, but it is inherent to the conversion process and probably the fact that the TV is not using the same decomb on s-video than composite (I'm guessing here).
Personnaly, I came to the conclusion that I would need to use 2 different inputs on my TV: one for s-video and one for composite, respectively. And this is absolutely not a problem since this splitter supports up to 4 outputs. It is only a matter of getting both s-video and composite connected on two different inputs at the same time and switching from one input to another on my TV. Doing so, entirely preserve or maximize the image quality.
The only thing I'm not sure I like about this splitter is the fact that there is no way to tell it is turned ON. No button, no light, nothing.
CallumReviewed in Australia on January 24, 20215.0 out of 5 stars Good video and audio with right Australian power adapter
Very good product! If you’re Australian you will need to get an Australian power adapter from your local store like jaycar or jb hi-fi but once you get it powered it works really well.
