I connected this to my NES to allow one output to my TV and a second to a video capture card. Unlike my other non-powered splitter, this one didn't degrade my signal in any way. Everything is just as bright and vibrant as when I connect the console directly to the TV. While I'm sure there has to be some minuscule amount (nanoseconds?), I also haven't noticed any additional input lag. I haven't tested this scientifically, but I do play a lot of level 19 classic Tetris on a good CRT, and the introduction of this item into my signal chain didn't cause me to miss a beat. (I can still regularly hit level 29.)

Sends AV signal to 4 outputs simultaneously, with one source input - No switching between jacks!
Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2018Verified Purchase
This worked exactly as posted - One input jack with 4 simultaneous output jacks going to 4 different pieces of equipment -all at the same time. With good-quality AV cables, the sound on all speakers is excellent with this Radio Shack AV-video splitter. There is no A-B-C-D switcher on this Radio Shack item, so it is designed for all outputs to have the same simultaneous sound and/or video at once. I used it to connect my multi-disk CD player (input) to 2 outputs: 1.) a powered auxiliary receiver with one wireless outdoor speaker and 2.) stereo receiver with connected indoor speakers. Problem happened because of a new large screen TV with no audio output jacks! (I used to have the wireless speaker/receiver connected to a previous TV, so I could have music on the TV screen as well as outdoors.) This Radio Shack 4-way splitter allowed me to reroute my sound capacity, with 2 output jacks still available if I want to add equipment. Very good solution for $17!

I had been looking for an audio distribution amplifier to enable me to feed 3 power amps without a huge drop in signal strength. This equipment seems to be working well for that application. It does have a video set of outputs too, but that is not what I wanted/needed, so can't really review that capability. I had tried to just split the one audio output to feed the amps, but the loss in signal made that option less than desirable. It has been very hard to find equipment that distributes audio output at line level and was glad to find this solution to my dilemma.

RadioShack, what an icon! After hours of testing, I have to say that this splitter works wonderfully.
Currently, I have a 8in 1out RCA splitter/switcher hooked up to multiple game systems. I have that 8in 1out splitter/switcher now plugged into this RadioShack splitter which I have outputted to 3 different tvs; a 2018 LED Westinghouse tv, a retro Sansui vhs/tv combo style tv, and an early 2000s crt Sharp tv.
The RadioShack splitter works great with all of them, so it'll work for both new tvs and older model tvs. It's also compatible with other splitters/switch boxes as the input. The picture is great and so is the sound quality. There is also no delay in the picture from what I could see. I tested this out by playing through the Flower Cup in Mario Kart Double Dash for the Gamecube as well as watched a few episodes of King of the hill via a dvd player and I couldn't see any issues.

Bought this to send an S-Video signal from older game consoles to a television and capture device simultaneously for Twitch and Youtube streaming, and it works great! More recently I've been using it to put Mario Kart on multiple TVs when we have a lot of people playing, and for dubbing lo-fi hip hop streams to VHS tapes. So, uh, if that's a use case you experience in your own life, this is the unit for you!
Also came with an ancient RadioShack price tag for $49.99, which is entertaining on many levels.

I am a gameplay youtuber and this is handy for splitting my A/V between my tv and capture device. I'm not going into all the tech details i'm just gonna say it very handy.

Despite some of the negative reviews... I am using it to power a Polk 12 inch Subwoofer, a Crown XLS 1502 Amp, and a Crown XLS 1002 Amp... Absolutely no hum and no troubles hooking it up right out of the box... The audio is crystal clear and distortion free.... Not so much as a crackle or a buzz out of the 60 Lb Subwoofer which I was worried about. People using these things need to quit hooking them up to extension chords and poorly grounded sources.... A ground loop will be an assurity if your not doing your part. Awesome product and I would not hesitate to order another!

I got this to be able to send audio signal from my PC to my vintage hifi receiver and speakers while also being able to send the signal to modern PC speakers. Just by turning off or on either the PC speakers or vintage audio system I can chose which to output PC sound from; I can also send sound out of both if I'd like.
Sounds great, I can't discern any loss of sound quality. I have not used any of the video I/O.
This unit has these great flanges that come off the bottom with screw holes that allow it to be screwed down onto a larger surface. I'm going to make a nice wooden base for the unit. More small box type electronic devices like this unit should have this.

I'm using this active splitter to connect multiple videogame consoles together on my TV, my capture card and my bluetooth transmitter.
I'm mixing both composite and s-video connections at the same time all coming from the same switch. It works wonder as long as there is only one console feeding a signal at a time. The splitter takes either composite or s-video and it outputs composite AND s-video, effectively converting composite to s-video or the opposite.
The end result is A1. As always, watch for your cables as one of my RCA composite video just broke on me after working intermittently.
One thing I would note though is that you can effectively simplify all your connections to only one s-video cable as input on your TV but doing so will make the image from composite sources a tad different. This is nothing really bad, but it is inherent to the conversion process and probably the fact that the TV is not using the same decomb on s-video than composite (I'm guessing here).
Personnaly, I came to the conclusion that I would need to use 2 different inputs on my TV: one for s-video and one for composite, respectively. And this is absolutely not a problem since this splitter supports up to 4 outputs. It is only a matter of getting both s-video and composite connected on two different inputs at the same time and switching from one input to another on my TV. Doing so, entirely preserve or maximize the image quality.
The only thing I'm not sure I like about this splitter is the fact that there is no way to tell it is turned ON. No button, no light, nothing.
