I've only been playing this game for less than ten hours or so now, but I can say confidently that fans of the Far Cry and Mad Max games will love this open-world shooter.

There's plenty to see and do, and it's always clear what you're supposed to do when you're on a mission and where you're supposed to be doing it.

The controls conform to industry-standard shooters, so they're quite intuitive, and you get tutorials along the way when you pick up new powers.

Your car talks to you and packs several kinds of weapons that you can use to take down other vehicles or begin an assault on an enemy base.

As with many open-world games, a cartoon balloon appears over the heads of characters you can talk to and unlock new side missions or locations of interest.

Of course, there's plenty of stuff to scavenge wherever you go, fueling further power-ups, weapon and vehicle mods, and the like.

Last but not least, the game has a good sense of humor to keep things light and lively even as you're laying down a path of righteous destruction.

So until the next Far Cry game comes along -- lock and load, dudes! You know what to do...

Rage 2's gameplay feels like a brutal fast paced shooter with basic, but still powerful powers. The guns range from typical weapons like a shotgun, pistol, assault rifle, and rocket launcher to the more special weapons like the gravity dart launcher, rail gun, and a revolver that detonates enemies on fire.
Pros:
-Solid open world shooter, but I'd recommend buying it cheap. I was able to grab it on sale for $30 which seems like a pretty good price.
-Weapons offer a perfect variety for using against enemies
-Upgrades and abilities help tremendously as you progress
-The environment and colors are really vibrant. It's really cool seeing the wasteland as a desert and driving through a rich and green forest
-The combat is really satisfying, wingsticks are my favorite throwable

Cons:
-Lack of a soundtrack at many parts. There's almost always a soundtrack playing when you're attacking a convoy, but other than that, it can be quiet. When exploring, all you hear is the sound of your car. Other times a soundtrack is present is generally during a story mission
-Short campaign (but I'm having trouble categorizing this as a short campaign because the game encourages you to explore more arks which give you weapons, equipment, and upgrades to give you better gear for later missions. Just discovering arks and getting better weapons was very cool. Personally I was encouraged to explore the map, get better gear/upgrades and attacking goon camps which was endless fun) But the campaign itself is pretty short.
-Not much endgame content. Once I completed the game and completed most of the things to do, I didn't feel like starting a new game or finishing the rest of the goon camps or exploring.
-Some graphical blips. I played it on the original ps4, it might be better on ps4 pro but I did come across some poor graphic effects like shadows would appear out of nowhere and seemingly disappear.
-The menu occasionally gets really slow especially in the "Log" tab. It just really slows down and takes a few seconds to switch tabs.

In conclusion, despite it's cons, it's definitely a blast and a really fun game to dive into and brutally kill your enemies, but at an affordable price. I wouldn't pay more than $35. It was so much fun discovering new weapons, upgrading my throwables, and getting new powers by finding the arks and taking on goon camps and convoys. If you played Doom 2016, this game seems to improve on its combat, it's pretty similar to Doom 2016 in terms of gameplay.

First off rage 1 this game is not! ( not by a long shot). The first game was excellent, and can take its place on the shelf along other classics like borderlands, far cry, bioshock. This game seems thrown together by a new crew that just don't have same guality standards as the old ID game did. Even after a couple updates and several patches, its still got some game enjoyment killing problems. The game is still crashing on me fairly often along with not being able to re enter my car with out restarting the console. when it's running smoothly its enjoyable. However laughable voice acting usually by shrouded clan and waistland bandits don't help! Campaign is short although more content has been promised for September. John carmack and crew you are sorely missed!!! 10/28/2019 update after a bunch of updates and patches they have finally got this game pretty enjoyable now, however now just recently I've encountered another glitch, when purchasing upgrade schematics for inventory items( which are super expensive!) when returning to the inventory screen to enable the upgrade, there is nothing there!! No sign of the schematics at all! And another puzzling thing is once you've found the cheats salesman and spent a fortune on what you want if you're on you're 3rd new game plus playthrough and start a new game (regular not +) all the cheats will be gone! So apparently more updates are needed which is why I am not raising the rating yet until its debugged more.

I waited for this one to go down in price. I had purchased Farcry New Dawn which has some great moments but plays a lot like a farcry game and had gotten tedious for me personally. This is like that game but way more sci- fi , which i love. Lots of fun and abilities to master. The game play is great. The action gets intense and the enemies are intelligent at times. Almost like fighting against another person. Just my experience. Got it for $20 black friday and I highly recommend it, especially at that price point. I was initially worried about the driving but it really isn't as bad as everyone is saying. The vibe of this game is awesome and reminds me of Blood dragon and Bulletstorm , two of my favorites.
