Not made by Raid and It Does Not Work (See Pictures) - It should be taken off the market
Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2019Verified Purchase
This product does not work at all! Some fruit flies hang out on the top and seem to enjoy the smell but never enter. After a couple of days, I Googled a makeshift solution which is a glass with apple cider covered with plastic punctured with small holes. This home remedy worked much better. See the photos showing the glass with many dead fruit flies compared to this product with ZERO fruit flies. I also learned that the product is not even manufactured by Raid. It is provided by PIC selling under the Raid brand name. Please do not be fooled -- THIS PRODUCT DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE USING A TRUSTED BRAND NAME LIKE RAID.

Item arrived with the included lures inside the apples melted and leaking.
Due to the current swarm from some overripe bananas, I need these NOW, not to stall with return and reship....I cleaned up the outsides and used the spare included lures with added water per instructions. Nothing. The flies all laughed, I swear I could hear them. The lures/ baits attract nothing. Soooooo, what I did was add was add a bit of apple cider vinegar to the mix and presto, the cute little apple design is now catching flies and drowning them in the lure/water/ACV mix. I'll dump, clean and reuse because they're much cuter than my old homemade ACV paper funnel and plastic wrap over a glass traps.

We had a small outbreak of fruit flies from some fruit we bought that must have had them. I put out some apple cider vinegar cups (with a Saran Wrap top with holes punched). These worked well but don’t exactly look nice. So I sprung for these raid traps. After a day or two I noticed NO FRUIT FLIES caught. I tried to replace the bait they gave with Apple cider vinegar - still very little luck. Lastly I put back out my own basic Saran Wrap traps, and lo and behold the next day there were like 20 flies in my traps, and zero in the Raid Apple things. I set my traps and the Raid ones side by side for fair testing.
I feel a bit bad about the poor review since this vendor isn’t Raid, but someone trying to make a living reselling their product. But I have to be fair and honest with the review. These things stink - And not in the way that fruit flies would appreciate.

If you’re here, you are in a similar spot to what I was a couple months ago. A bunch of bananas brought in fruit flies. The first thing I did was go on amazon and look for fruit fly traps. I ordered them here and it told me it would be two days before they arrived.
So, I googled DIY fruit traps to make myself feel better about the two day wait before the big guns came in. I filled a long stem vase with apple cider vinegar, a squirt of dish soap, and a generous squeeze of honey. I let it sit out.
Finally these products arrived so I followed the assembly institutions and put them out. I checked my DIY vase and it had about a dozen dead flies in it, so I left it out. Maybe it would assist these apples, right?
After a week, not a fruit fly was in sight. I got ready to write my rave review, when I checked the apples. NOT A SINGLE FRUIT FLY WENT INTO EITHER OF THE APPLES. Not a single pity-fly, to make me feel less guilty about wasting 15 bucks. Dozens and dozens were floating in my vase though. I recommend the DIY solution, save your money. I wish I did.

I set one of these next to a Terro fruit fly trap and after a day the Raid trap caught 1 fly and the Terro caught 15-20+. I would highly recommend the Terro trap in conjunction with a sticky trap or some kind placed near or above it (because many flies tend to just hang out on top of the trap).

This product is too hard to use. You have to separate the apple to put the packet in & this was really hard. You get some refills but keep in mind that you have to separate the apple every time you you want to use a refill. The application takes water to dissolve the packet. And you are supposed to add water if it dries out, but you can't get the funnel wet. I hate that I bought this product. I don't want to get poison all over my hands.
I should have struck with the other apple.
Update: A big waste of money. I am going back to the Terro brand.
Update: Amazon was taken to long to deliver my Terro Apple so I went on line to see what other options I could find.
URIKA, I found a simple ORGANIC recipe. I set it up 3 days ago and at first I didn't think it was working. I notice a reduction in the gnat population but when I looked in the cup that had the homemade solution I couldn't see any results. HOWEVER, when I dumped my cup in the sink today I was pleasantly surprised to see hundreds of those nasty little buggers swirling down the drain. Here is the recipe, Mix:
1/2 C Warm Water
2 Tablespoons Apple Cider vinegar
1 Tablespoon of sugar
6 drops is Dish Soap

I usually only take time to review something that is truly amazing on Amazon. However, every so once in a while what I buy is such garbage I have to bash it. I bought several sets of these. After days I saw not a single fruit fly in the traps. You'd think one fruit fly would fly into the trap by accident. There were dozens caught in other traps I set of a different brand. These are irritating to setup because you have to mix warm water with the attractant. Not convenient if trying to setup someplace like work. The directions said to add a drop of dish soap to increase effectiveness, so I tried that. Nope. Seems like absurd advice anyways. I don't know of any bugs attracted to soap smell. I think it's usually the opposite. It's not soap smell that attracts bugs. It's possible these are calibrated to work on a certain type of fruit flies different from mine, but even if they are the sellers need to be clear about that, and the are too irritating to use. Try something else.
