Rain and Revelation is an excellent blend of investigative intrigue and the path one young woman, Eliza Conroy, must take to uncover deep secrets from her family's past. Secrets that have the power to destroy lives. The book moves seamlessly from one plot twist to another, building the dynamics and complexity of the truth to a final, unexpected, and shocking conclusion. The author is a masterful storyteller with an ability to create vivid visual imagery of Eliza's life in a remote and somewhat isolated sea-side town in Ireland. This book is a must read - - I couldn't put it down!

What a great book for a first time author. Definite page turner. Transitions from one chapter to the next were seamless. I love how Ms. Pautz weaves the central theme of rain throughout the book. Each character's depth and personality comes alive on the page. The author has a way of placing details subtly into the story--details that you don't realize are important until the story gains momentum. Great read for vacation or a winter weekend!

This book deals with a wide range of issues including everything from suicide to life changing secrets. I wont spoil anything for those of you who read it but I did find the story to be a little unbelievable. One bad trauma after another happens to the main character, it got to the point I expected her to get hit by a bus while crossing the street. Bad things do happen to people, sometimes all at once, this story just made it seem like a competition for who has the worst life. I don't feel the main character was easy to connect to. She was a very fragile character who needed to find courage, sadly to me, it never seemed like she did. She would complain about her problems and then blame them on others or have someone else fight her battles. For a character of her age I expected more. In general, I wouldn't reccomend this book.

As I began reading this book I wasn't sure if I was going to finish it. The heroine was not a person I liked. Her friend I did not like. As I read I found myself feeling sympathy for this family. It is hard to say too much without giving spoilers, so I will just say by the time I was at least half-way through, I could not put it down. This is a book that I am saving to maybe re-read someday.

I highly recommend it.

I so enjoyed Rain and Revelation. When I started, I was not sure what to expect. Rain and Revelation through the character Eliza Conroy provided me a blended journey of suspense, investigation and intrigue. This is a great page turner, kept me in suspense and guessing on where Eliza was going to uncover family secrets. The conclusion was very surprising. I would and have recommended this book to friends. Hope you enjoy as much I did.Rain and Revelation

A dark, gripping story that I was enthralled with from the first page. From finding her mother dying in the tub to ending up battling members of her own family, Eliza dealt with so much drama throughout the story. Her Mother’s character Annie was so dark and piqued my curiosity and it was a shame to find that she had gone through so much. It was also sad that Annie and Eliza were not close. As I’m extremely close with my mom, it saddened me to see a Mother/Daughter relationship so challenged. The story had many twists and turns and the pain experienced by all the characters was heart breaking. **Spoiler Alert…continue reading at your own risk** Eliza finding out her Grandfather is actually her father and was a disgusting rapist and abuser to her mother, sickened me. Knowing he could take advantage of his daughter made me want to puke and finding out how Annie’s mother (Eliza’s Grandmother) treated her was foul. All in all, I think the story was written well and the storyline, though dark was put together well. The only thing I didn’t like about the story was Fiona. I could not for the life of me stand her character. She acted like a petulant child the majority of the time. It was good that Eliza had a female friend though and that she snapped at her (finally). I also want to mention, Ryan’s character was interesting. I’d love to see a novel about him (crosses fingers).

I started this book without high expectations, being on the free book list and all, but ended up with wet tissues by the end! A great story of hidden troubles throughout families and discovering things about people you thought you knew so well. A fearful book in terms of never really knowing someone like you had thought you did. Well written and I loved the Irish flavor thrown in!

As a former English teacher and attorney, I read this book with great interest. I was not disappointed. In fact, I believe I finished it in a day and a half because I was eager to experience each twist of its plot as well as the ending. The small village setting with its old bar, stone cottages, and guest house provided a mood of dark mystery joined with the drama of tormented souls, everyday people, caught with no easy escape. Some of the scenes still stick: Anne in the bathtub scrubbed so clean, the friends safe and familiar in the village bar, the absent grandparents on holiday, the dusty old teacher's house, and, of course, the female atorney, so clear and empowering. Evil meets its match: revelation. Rain and Revelation illustrates the path of an overcomer. The world would do well to meet people, like Anne and Eliza, who meet face challenges creatively and walk with heads held high.
