Rain-X "Beam" blade design contoured design applies even pressure along entire length of blade
The Rain-X Latitude Wiper Blade contours to the unique curvature of your windshield to provide smooth, even wiping pressure along the full legth of the blade. The Rain-X Latitude series of windshield wiper blades offers ultimate visibility in rain, sleet, and snow. The Latitude's synthetic rubber squeegee resists cracking in extreme temperatures, and prevents ice and snow build-up through the elimination of exposed metal components. Rain-X Latitude wiper blades fit over 98% of vehicles, thanks to the pre-installed small j-hook adapter and included multi-adapter for side pin, large j-hook, and bayonet wiper blade arms.
Easy to Install
Latitude wiper blades are for use on either originally installed standard or curved-style wiper blades. They come pre-installed with small j-hook adapter, and the package contains a multi-adapter for side pin, large j-hook, and bayonet wiper blade arms. The Rain-X Latitude Version 2 wiper blades fit I&L (Insert & Lock) and PTB (Pinch Tab Button) wiper blade arms.
High Performance Wipe
The contoured design of the Latitude wiper applies even pressure along the entire blade length for a smooth, clean wipe every time. A specially blended graphite-coated rubber blade delivers the ultimate smooth, clean, chatter-free wipe. The blade's built-in aerodynamic spoiler significantly reduces drag, noise and wind lift for a smoother driving experience even in less-than-ideal conditions.
The Latitude's ice-resistant frame prevents ice and snow build-up through the elimination of exposed metal components. The durable, rubber-encased substructure increases wiper flexibility and adherence to the windshield in harsh conditions. This means more visibility in severe driving conditions and a longer windshield wiper life.

As far as the blades scratching the windshield, the only thing I can think of that would cause that to happen is if they forgot to take the plastic cover off the blade. I can't see how someone might do that, but the blade itself is pretty flexible, so I have no idea how it could scratch auto glass.
For me, these have been great, and the price on Amazon is very reasonable. I think I saved about $6 per blade by not getting them at the local auto parts store. I think this should be one of the items that Amazon lets you "Subscribe" to, so you could have them delivered every six months or so. That would certainly help me to remember to change my wiper blades!
UPDATE: Been using these now for a couple of years and still love them. The Bosch version are also very good so I tend to buy whichever brand happens to be cheaper at the time.
In the snow, they are not that bad, if you park your car in a garage anyway. The problem with these blades is that they do not hold up well in cold weather, especially when coated with snow and ice.
I've had these blades on my Blazer for about 7 months, and during the fall they were great. Once the bad weather started to come (Buffalo, NY) the snow and ice began to build up on the blades while parked outside. The design of these blades includes plastic end caps that keep the main blade strip from moving. But when water has collected inside the cap and it freezes, the expanded ice loosens the cap and it eventually falls off. After that, the blade will slowly ease its way out from the holder slot. If you do not slide it back right away (every day or during the drive) it will ruin the blade when it wipes. This results in the wiper not being able to get a clean wipe in thick snows or sleet on both strokes. I regularly get a big wet icy patch in the middle of my windshield due to this.
I have been looking for the perfect winter wipers for a long time, and these are not them.
They can also be reversed, very nice if one becomes streaky. Simply remove the J hook and spin it 180 degrees, and then reinstall. No more streaks! The J hook has two tabs that lock in the blade and acts like a see saw. I suggest doing this to get the longest use out of these.
I bought them for someone else and they lasted him a few years. I don't know why I waited so long, but I just bought myself my first pair recently. Hot diggity, I can see clearly now, the rain has been thoroughly wiped from my windshield! I drive an old ('99) Toyota and they fit perfectly without the adapters. If you have small J-hook arms for your wipers, I totally recommend these - they should fit. Because of their design, the blades apply even pressure, provide whisper quiet operation, and prevent streaks.
However, these things aren't invincible. Obviously, don't try try to clear ice or frost off your windshield with them and definitely don't use them as makeshift katanas in an effort to impress street toughs. Basically, if you take your Bruce Lees for granted, you're gonna regret it (R.I.P. Mr. Lee).
