One reviewer said that the book is not good for colored pencils, and I would have to agree. The tooth is all wrong for that. This paper is very smooth, and it does not grab the color well. But no paper is good for every media.
These pages are delightful. Beautiful images on each page. I love how they are only printed on one side. I use pensils and pastels. I recommend the use of a blotter page when working in this book.
I plan to hang a couple of the finished pictures on my walls. Definitely recommend!
Rainbow. Line Art Coloring Book: Coloring Book for Adults
The designs in this book are rather eclectic and unlike many of Alena’s other books which are themed, this one has a variety of illustrations ranging from birds and flowers to fairy mushroom houses, mermaids, children, beautiful women and animals. With a total of 36 different designs and a bonus extra 10 illustration sample pages to colour from Alena’s previous books (7 of which are greyscale). This is good value for money and will give you a good variety of Alena’s work.
I was kindly sent a copy of the book from the artist, however all thoughts and comments are my honest opinion.
The book offers 36 line drawings, plus the artist always includes bonus pages in the back with examples from her other books (a few are in greyscale). The images are on one side of the page, and all stop well before the spine so you can easily cut or tear out a page.
The paper is medium thickness. Using markers, the bleed-through on my project was minimal.
This is a book you could hoard for yourself, or share with others, even children. There's probably something for everyone in this book. No matter what your mood is, you'll find a page to suit your coloring aspirations. The artist's style is clean and the lines are neat and well-defined. There are some small details, but as well, larger areas for shading practice. There's a lot of whimsy on the pages!
