4.0 out of 5 stars A beautifully descriptive, if somewhat stormy lovestory that plays off in Italy and Africa.
By Sonia Campbell-Gillies on July 4, 2014
Max is a girl who lives somewhere inbetween the elite of her wealthy friends and the lowerclass existence in the belltower of a Cathedral in Cape Town, South Africa. Because she loves cooking she goes for an interview for a Head Chef and Manager position at a top restaurant. Because the owner lives overseas, his sister interviews her. A week later she suddenly finds herself flying to Italy, to stay in the owner's villa on Lake Como for Italian cooking lessons.
In various hilarious scenes she gets herself entangled in a web of misunderstandings and is introduced as an African Princess. A modern-day Pride and Prejudice relationship develops between her and the Count of Rossini, the owner of the Villa as well as his friends and family. This is a full of humour, rags to riches tale that ends in the Timbavati, a beautifully described African backdrop to a happy ending.
