She was just a sad pathetic doormat. Your man doesn't stand up for you, doesn't fight for you. But you chase him like the other w.h.o.r.e.s.
You have to know from the start she was raped and he didn't do anything.
He just left her in the middle of the rape and then refuses to talk to her. This, I just can't handle. If he loved her, he didn't stay to fight, to talk, to beat the guy.
No he later screws the girl who drugged her.
Did she go to the hospital or cops about the drugs or rape? Nope, she just lets them go and turns into a w.h.o.r.e.
When he sat there and cried saying he will take care of everyone who hurt her. Does he do that? Nope, oh he took care of the guy but what about the girl. The one who drugged her on purpose to be raped so she could have her man. Nothing happens to her. She walks? Um sorry but no. If he was a man he would of took care of her to. She was worse than the rapist. That ruined it to a one.
He never redeemed himself.
She just forgives, like that. Um, who really FORGIVES the love of their life when the walk away and left her being raped and then screw the girl who made the rape happen? No women, what he did was unforgivable. And I have a hard time how she couldn't talk to him. What couldn't go to his house? Couldn't tell his sister to talk to him.
That was just really to stupid to believe.
It really has been going down hill.
There are some funny and angry moments as they grow closer to each other even though they both try to stay away from each other. He does not want her but he will not let her be with anyone else either, she tells him "You're unbelievable, you know that? Why do you even care? It's been years. Years. We broke up on bad terms, and now this!" Rake says "Because no matter what you did, no matter what happened in the past, you will always be the love of my life" this was so sad, my heart broke for both of them.
The more time they are around each other the more it shows that they never truly fell out of love for each other but he is protecting him self, at one point he tells her he won't give her the power to break his heart again. For awhile he takes mean shots at her over and over again about her cheating on him and finally she has had enough and let's him have it, "all of it" and it changes everything. Bailey wants to start over with Rake, she wants to forget the past and move ahead like it did not happen but Rake feels he is not worthy of her and pushes her away. Finally she chooses to put things in her own hands and goes for it "I want you more than I've ever wanted anything in my life," "I don't care about what happened between us; I've let everything go, and so should you. And I'm not asking for much, just the chance to be with you again."
One of the best things in this book is Cara, aka "Angel" this is what Rake calls her, she is Bailey's daughter (not Rake's :() but she is so cute, and so polite, just adorable and everyone loves her. Rake loves her like she is his own, he says "I don't care how long it's been, or that it's not my blood in her veins. It's your blood and that's more than enough for me. You're mine, and she's mine." Then Bailey says "Did you just tell me that you love my daughter before you've even told me that you love me? and Rake says "Some things don't need to be said."
He is so romantic and I can't stop swooning over him. I could not get enough of this couple, they were so wonderful together. She tells him "My soul recognizes yours, I see you Rake. I was born to be yours, and you will always be mine." "Vine-deep," he whispers, "Vein-deep" she repeats.
Like the other books there is quite the drama in this story too, hold on tight!!!!
Once again we got to read alot about the other couples from the other books, some drama surrounding one couple, some surprises for one couple, and I have to admit I was surprised that Irish's story was listed as 3.5 because I think I should have read his story after this one, because most of these things take place before he meets Tina or right as he meets her, but oh well.
I don't think I have loved an epilogue this much in awhile, it is the best, so funny, just perfect, I love this series and cannot wait to read the next book.
