My first review of this Rally inverter was in 2012 about four years since my original purchase. I updated my original review in 2014 when I purchased the same unit for my adult niece. By then, my inverter was 3+-year old and used regularly in our car, jeep and and long RV trips. Well, it is now June 2015. My rough-and-tumble niece's family of mostly boys have used their inverter somewhat regularly for a year. My 2012 inverter is still working like the day it arrived.
I'm about to purchase a second inverter for myself, because I'm finding it difficult to remember to grab my inverter from one vehicle so I can use it in another vehicle as needed (yes, I know -- first world problems). For a moment, I considered checking out other models of inverters, then thought, "WHYYYYYY?" I honestly have zero complaints with my 2011 constantly-used inverter (which, incidently, lives in the heat of my center console) in the California desert, and my neice has no complaints with her year-old inverter used by her entire family in four seasons of the midwest.
I am a gadget fiend (though my budget doesn't allow for the newest and greatest anymore, boo hoo), and I really appreciate how I can use this Rally inverter to charge up any of my gadgets as needed. As I've mentioned in a previous review, I have used it to charge my laptop, iPad, cell phone, ecig, Verizon Home Phone Connect (anyone have a better option than the home phone connect? I'm getting terrible reception lately!) and I can charge any combos thereof. I've never blown fuses or had anything negative happen at all. This product is just a winner. And, no, I purchased this, I have no vested interest whatsoever.Read more ›
Second, the bad, really, not so bad...The fan does make noise but only when the power inverter is switched on to use the 110V outlets. This is acceptable and necessary for cooling the unit. Since using the 110V outlets may be rare anyway and when being used while driving, the road noise, A/C and talking make the fan noise virtually unnoticeable. Another thing is the protective caps are a bit difficult to remove, especially the USB cap. This cap can be left off/open for regular use.
As for the power inverter sitting securely in your cup holder depends on your cup holder. In my case, the unit was not very stable where I used foam around the bottom to give it a snug fit in my cup holder. Foam also allows air flow to the fan intake vents. I never received a "rubber chunk" as another reviewer stated.
Overall, I am very happy with this power inverter...With all these functions in my vehicle, it's like having a car office.
"Hmm, must be a fluke, I thought, I'll try it in my Camry." Took it over to the Camry, plugged it in, and before I could even try turning it on, my radio went dead -- and the power port with it. It had blown the fuse in the Camry, too. And this is with nothing plugged into the inverter, mind you!
It's going back. Totally unreliable, and so far all it's done is blow fuses.

The two 20amp power ports stopped working after one day of use. Fuse was not blown. This thing is garbage.Published 4 days ago by Robert Ellis
I had this inverter since 2012 and it worked great. It suddenly stopped working this year 2016. For the price it is a great value.Published 18 days ago by Leslie B.
Does what it's intended for, but it makes my radio get static when I turn the power inverter part on.Published 1 month ago by Katie
