About the Author

Beverly Cleary is one of America's most popular authors. Born in McMinnville, Oregon, she lived on a farm in Yamhill until she was six and then moved to Portland. After college, as the children's librarian in Yakima, Washington, she was challenged to find stories for non-readers. She wrote her first book, Henry Huggins, inresponse to a boy's question, "Where are the books about kids like us?"

Mrs. Cleary's books have earned her many prestigious awards, including the Amercan Library Association's Laura Ingalls Wilder Award, presented in recognition of her lasting contribution to children's literature.

Her Dear Mr. Henshaw was awarded the 1984 John Newbery Medal, and both Ramona Quimby, Age 8 and Ramona and Her Father have been named Newbery Honor Books. In addition, her books have won more than thirty-five statewide awards based on the votes of her young readers. Her characters, including Henry Huggins, Ellen Tebbits, Otis Spofford, and Beezus and Ramona Quimby, as well as Ribsy, Socks, and Ralph S. Mouse, have delighted children for generations. Mrs. Cleary lives in coastal California.

I had one of these journals when I was a little girl. Being an avid fan of Beverly Cleary and Ramona Quimby, my mom bought me one and I LOVED it. Actually, when I filled one of them up I begged her to get me another! It is filled with blank pages and also quotes from the Ramona books that help a young girl think about things to write about. It was a great first journal for me and I plan to buy one for each of my two neices (I might buy an extra for myself!) Two thumbs up for this one!

This purchase did not please me at all. My daughter sent me the link to purchase this for my granddaughter, she loves all things Ramona! We both knew it was used. I don't know if my daughter read all the remarks from the seller, I trusted that she did, and then I did not. By the title, we thought it was a Ramona Diary, a diary written by Ramona. It was not! It was a diary that the child it was purchased for would fill in and because it was just that, it had writing on most of the pages! It had previously been owned by 2 different girls. There was 2 names inside the book. You could see where some of the written parts had been erased and even scribbled out! It wouldn't have been a problem if it had been written in pencil, I would have just erased it. But most of it was in pen and it's a mess! I personally don't see how ANYONE could sell such a book, having told the possible buyer or not, about the condition of the book! My granddaughter looked at it and said, "whose is that?" "What am I going to do with that?" :(
