From the Author

The Rancher Takes a Bride is one of my favorite titles. I loved creating Mama Burnett and who can resist Madam Desiree. This book was fun to write and the hero was such a stuffed shirt that Madam Desiree had so much making him realize that she was just an ordinary woman. If you like to laugh, I hope you'll enjoy this book as much as I did.

Be sure to look for the other three books in the series. Someday I plan on writing the grandchildren's stories...someday.

I'm about 2/3 of the way through the book and I have to give up. I really wanted to like this book. The story seemed very interesting and really, I think would be great if not for all of the repetition. At least 1/2 of the text is devoted to the same tiring repetition of both main character's pining over each other. They are hot for each other...we get it...we got it after page 20...we don't need to be constantly reminded paragraph after paragraph. The repetition drags the story down and causes it to move very slowly.

Too bad because I would really like to know how it ends, and with 2 brothers that each have their own sequel, I would have enjoyed reading about this family. But I can't bring myself to do it.

Of course it wouldn't be a good book if someone wasn't trying the get the two people together that they think belong together. The Mom is trying to get her son married off and has found the girl of her dreams from him, She tries everything to get her son to pick up on things and he just doesn't. good reading and funny

The Rancher Takes a Bride is a western love story that was a very enjoyable read.

I'll preface this review by saying that I'm not into historical romances at all, but decided to give The Rancher Takes a Bride a try since it was a freebie, I was not disappointed.

Blurb:

Travis Burnett is an attractive, single rancher. Eugenia Burnett his mother meets a young woman Rose Severin whom she considers a perfect wife for her stubborn son. Rose is a woman who runs a traveling séance parlor under a presumed name: Desiree Severin. The book unravels as Travis's mother's Eugenia sets off to play matchmaker by whatever means possible, scheming and lying in her quest.

**Spoilers, sorry***

In The Rancher Takes a Bride the characters are likeable and relatable and the storyline pulls you in from the first few pages. The story was well written, and McDaniel did an excellent job at the sexual tension, in my opinion the tension was a five. The plot was interesting and the descriptions were distinct enough to form a good picture in my mind of the Texan town and townspeople.

My major issue with the story was that the lie about the ring existed throughout the entire book. I guess I wasn't `buying' that Travis would just let a `thief' stay in his house, eat and sleep and become part of his life, biting time for the ring to appear.

Also, the in last ten pages of the book the dialogue was redundant, but it wasn't too bothersome to keep me from reading.

The ending was abrupt and bit of a disappointment; it was almost as if after the proposal there should have been an epilogue to bring the story full circle.

Either which way, I definitely recommend this book!

Typical romance novel, but was a fun and quick read. I liked the strong woman...especially since it was set in the late 1800's.

The author gives us characters that make us laugh and cry and wish life could be that much fun, once you start reading you will not be able to put it down since Rose keeps things in a constant chaos,
, they both find love and happiness though both try to deny it, and Travis's mom is determined to get grandchildren and will stop at nothing to do so, they draw you in and make you wish you actually knew them and could be a part of the good times that they have at each others expense, this book was superbly written and can't wait to read what else Sylvia McDaniel has to share, this is a book that needs to be in your collection of favorites

This book was really good. You will fall in love with all of the characters. I cant wait to read more about the family. After all there are still two more sons for Eugenia to fix up!! I truly loved this book. The author brought to life the characters. Whenever that happens I know I am reading something amazing. There are very few authors that I can truly say that about. I am now a Sylvia McDaniel fan. I am already reading the next book and can barely put it down.

I had not heard of this author before, when I downloaded her book and was so taken by it that I couldn't put it down. This is a good romance to snuggle in bed with and before you know it you are done with the book. I will now look for more of this author's books and can't wait to get snuggled in again. Happy romance reading to all the romance book readers! ( This is a good one! )
