You'd think this was Cyan/Magenta/Yellow, but the "Butterscotch" is a bit brownish. "Stream" is a proper cyan, and "Wild Plum" is a proper magenta, though. I tried out the "Sunshine Yellow" and was able to mix the full color spectrum.

The product is awesome but I would have loved it more if Ranger had a CMY set for those who like mixing their own colors.

I fad been trying to find a crafty way to use the art supplies I have already without buying the good stuff to make this alcohol ink. After many failed attempts, I ordered the good stuff “Ranger”, and it came on time, works so well with the Yupo paper too. I was worried it looked too cool or easy to get the awesome effects I have seen online with this brand and craft. Wrong! I am glad I got this actually affordable brand, I’m kind of addicted and would recommend it and definitely get the Yupo paper as well. You will be very happy to see the results immediately! It makes you feel like a pro right away. I would recommend it to anyone interested in this cool medium. It’s really good quality ink and supplies, and dangerously well stocked color ranges👍🏼🌈!

I started with a kit and then thought I would expand and bought another brand. Mistake! Adirondack is the best for not leaking all over and had very vibrant colors. Some are very similar and since you can mix them, you can start with a few bottles and do a lot. In the first picture, I have some white tiles and marble coasters. I put sticky felt on the tiles (they are the square ones). I like how the marble looks a little better but for the price, tile is way more affordable. You can mess up and pretty much start over if you have a bottle of alcohol. If you like to paint but also like to experiment and make mistakes that can be wiped away - you really have to try this. My mom uses them to paint on aluminum cans and makes flowers. I tried the paper but you are limited in the "redo" area. The paper in the picture is the shiny silver card stock. The shine gives it a more vibrant look, though it doesn't wipe off easily like with the tile or marble. It will to a point, but it is paper. The sky really is the limit with these inks. You can use on so many surfaces where regular acrylic paint would scratch right off.

There's a reason these are a big deal. The colors are intense and they really, REALLY stay. Be warned, they'll stay on anything you drip them onto, so wear something you can get messy! And it'll wash off but it'll take a little effort to get it off your skin. But these are great.

Wonder Alcohol Inks

I really like these alcohol inks. The colors are gorgeous and really pop. They are translucent yet vivid and vibrant. I use them to color resin and polymer clay. The alcohol inks work well with both. The resin cures just fine with them and there is no reaction with the polymer clay. I also use them on metal and they need to be heat set if used on metal. Make sure you have wax paper or something down on your work surface while working with these. They do clean up with alcohol.

I crafted with these this morning and I was very with the way the wild plum (which is actually more of a fuchsia) and the butterscotch (a deep, bronze yellow) turned out but I was far less enchanted with the teal blue. It lent, in one case, a jarring element to the piece I was working on. In addition, the nozzle of the blue bottle I received was broken. So, when I opened it, a lot of ink spilled out all over the place. This was just a bad luck fluke. But, these inks are too expensive to be put in shoddy containers like that. So, that’s a large part of my lukewarm rating.
