Not a book for the squeamish or the faint of heart. The author, a retired police officer (and personal acquaintance of mine via USC football tailgates) has used his real-world experience to write an engrossing novel about a very disturbing subject.
I found the book captivating. You quickly become mesmerized by the generational impact on an extended family, by one very sick man. This book should be required reading for young police personnel. The issue seems outside the normal "family" setting, yet the author clearly points out how youngsters (babies really) can be taken advantage of and how families can "close ranks" in a misguided attempt to protect. Child abuse takes many forms, this books serves to cause thoughtful reflection on the topic and to raise the alert to all parents...sad but true, trust no one with the health and well being of your children. Always vigilant is the only acceptable parental posture.
