Otherwise I really like this product and have suggested it to my friends that want to one day visit Japan seeing as this will teach you a lot of the basics you will require to be able to communicate with the Japanese. If there happens to be anymore for learning additional Japanese phrases past Volumes 1 & 2 I would gladly invest in them.
But on the other hand there is some minor mispronunciations.
That can easily be overcome by using some of the tools along with this such as TextFugu.com and Japanesepod101.com.
The key here is to build on your vocabulary and by doing so you will be able to put complete proper sentences together.
It also doesn't hurt learning the basics about Japanese such hentaignna and katakana.
I am extremely disappointed as I paid a lot of money in Australian dollars for this gift.
Earworms Rapid Japanese audio cds are simply brilliant and funny. I listened while walking which made it a breeze (I'm sure I sounded like a nut but I learned phrases that were spot on useful and never included in 3 years of traditional japanese language classes).
So if you are looking to learn some Japanese for travel or just for fun this is the way to go you won't be sorry you did. (And if you want to add a little written Japanese that is infinitely more useful than a class, add Tuttle's Japanese Phrase-A-Day product it's great too!)
