It's safe to say that after reading books 1-3 I had become quite attached to these characters, I mean really attached, but Xander & Addie more than the others. I thought S. Murphy had destroyed my heart in book 3 but I was wrong, so wrong! Now however I know she has, she has literally destroyed my heart, shredded it into tiny little pieces!!! I cried, twice!! -I'm saying no more for fear of spoiling the story for those who haven't read it yet!
These characters have grown & flourished in every book & Rapture is no exception. Addie continues to adapt & grow with every challenge she faces. In book 1 I never would have thought Addie would be willing or capable of being a Princess but she steps up to the challenge & I think she nails it!
All of the characters; I won't name names just in case you haven't read the other books in the series; play their roles exceedingly well. They all bring different elements to the overall story & help to weave a spellbinding tale for us readers to devour.
The overall plot is not what I was expecting to happen. There are twists & turns that I didn't see coming, & when you least expect them. I felt like there were a couple of parts that were skipped over, they were mentioned after the event happened as opposed to us experiencing the event alongside the characters. It doesn't really take away from the story as a whole, it just made it feel a little rushed in those particular places. The ending is... one hell of an ending! As much as it wasn't what I thought would happen, it is right, it fits perfectly. I fully understand the reasoning behind the ending especially as I know Addie.
S. Murphy’s writing has been a pleasure to read once again. Her writing creates a world that sucks you in & holds you captive until the bitter end. You experience everything with these characters as if you are physically alongside them. You cheer them on, fear for them, cry for them & your heartbreaks right along with theirs!
I'm truly sad to say goodbye to this lot. But I'm excited to see what S. Murphy comes up with for us readers next.
This is the final book in the "The Immortal Chronicles" series. So do not read as a stand alone or you will be very very lost!
Since you are all on the final book of the series you know pretty much what is going on. Xander is back and Addie had just married Dante. Who will she choose? And it wouldn't be an Immortal Chronicle book if somethig didn't hit the fan...
"Every good King knows his place is at his Queens side.”
I really love this whole series! I have been rooting on Addie since book one. Dang if my heart wasn't destroyed when Xander died. So when he came back it was like...game on!! This book is similar to the others but I felt missing something. A lot of things were skimmed over and just explained once they already happened. So there wasn't really any action and it was harder to get emotionally attached in this book because it seemed a little rushed. But with that said there was a lot of story to put in one book. I still love all these people. And I love the story line. I was upset because this story changed paths on me and my heart broke a bit but it was the correct way to do it.
This book had my full interest and this may seem crazy but bear with me. I am from America and right now we have are going through some crazy stuff and this book seemed to relate to it a lot. The beginning reminded me of people with our president and as we went on about the divide we are having throughout our country right now. Change is not always a bad thing but people will always be afraid of change. So I think that is why even though I felt the story was rushed and I missed something I rated it higher because I feel as though this book delivered a really good message. And not only did it teach us something but it finished out our journey with Addie.
It's so very hard to review this book without giving away any spoilers as this is the one that changes everything that you thought you knew to be true, but I am warning you now that it's contents are so explosive that it left me feeling so raw and full of anger and betrayal that a day after reading it I am still feeling so emotionally damaged by it.
While reading I actually screamed out loud and tears fell down my cheeks from what was happening before my eyes. I just couldn't stop myself. I do suppose that I just wanted the ending of this book to be my perfect happy ending but, I should have learnt by now that Sloane Murphy is a Mistress of Evil, as from right from the very first book she has always made you move out of the comfort zone and to expect the unexpected with her writing. I had totally forgot how spellbinding her storytelling is.
The ending of Addie's story wasn't what I wanted but I do understand why it has to be this way, even if I didn't like it it's still perfect in it's own way. I'm so very sad that the series is now over as I've enjoyed reading it every step of the way.
This book absolutely made a mess of me and it's truly worthy of 5 stars and more!
