From School Library Journal
Kindergarten-Grade 2 - Ben wants a pet dragon, but his father says no because each one has a bad habit in this easy reader by Australian author Paul Jenning. Ben finds a stray dragon that he names Rascal and begs his father to let him keep him as a pet. When Rascal makes himself useful by lighting a fire, his father relents. Actress Rebecca Macauley narrates the voices of Ben and his father with an easily understood Australian accent. Three versions of the story are presented. The first and second versions have a jazzy original soundtrack, and the second one also includes page-turn prompts. The third version is narration only. Beginning readers will enjoy this simple story about a boy who loves dragons. - Teresa Wittmann, Westgate Elementary School, Edmonds, WA

It is disappointing to see that these books seem quite expensive in the US and that not more titles are available. I recently bought a box set of the first six books in Australia for about US$25. My son's favourite is Rascal and the Cheese.
For children reading above Rascal level, I would also recommend Paul Jennings Cabbage Patch series of books, eg, the Cabbage Patch War etc. This are hilarious!
