This wall wart does make 5v DC, however it has a surge when initially plugged into the wall. So I have to plug it in and THEN connect it to the Raspberry Pi.

I bought this for my Raspberry Pi. Made for it.
I had wanted a 2A module but this one is sufficiently over the minimum requirement of 700mA, particularly since I also used a powered USB adapter for the keyboard and WIFI adapter.

I have a Pi that was crashing randomly every few days. I assume it was because I was drawing too much power through the USB interface.

I was using a 800ma supply and replaced it with this 1500ma. Like magic, my random crashes vanished!

This worked great about a year and then went. I had 3 of them, 2 of them have gone within the last month and I'm expecting the next one to go soon. They are all plugged into pure sine UPSes and on different power grids. They still provide some power but not enough for the PI to boot, I don't dare plug my cell phone into it and micro USB is too small to test the power output without special equipment.

If you run your PI 24/7/365 stay away from this

Fully powers my Pi and everything I've got plugged into it! My only gripe is that the picture is not what you get, the plug looks different in that it plugs into a wall socket horizontally, rather than vertically. Which is much better for plugging into a power strip so it doesn't cover an adjacent socket. Just something to keep in mind when buying.

Also, in other reviews, I see people saying that the build quality is quite cheap and the plug is prone to falling apart. The one I received seems pretty sturdy however, so I possibly have a newer improved version.

I purchased it for using it with my Raspberry Pi. I thought it was a bit expensive as compared to the chargers you buy on ebay, but when I received it, I was satisfied with the build quality and am happy with my purchase.

Arrived cracked and does not look like the image. When I contacted Pi Hut they did not respond. The item is too inexpensive to be worth trying to box and return, so I will avoid Pi Hut in the future (also not how hard it is to contact them - unlike other vendors they don't seem to have a "contact the seller" button).

I got a Raspberry Pi B+ and needed power. Amazon has this one, which has worked very well for me. Not a single glitch.
I read that this computer board needs at least 1000 ma to run because of the possible load on the USB ports. So, I found this unit that delivers 1500 ma.
