Rat Zapper Ultra Rodent Trap
Get rid of rats and mice quickly and effectively with the Rat Zapper Ultra Rat Trap. A more humane alternative to traditional snap traps, the trap kills rodents using a high-voltage shock. Lure the rodent inside the trap’s large chamber and onto the double metal plates by placing bait along the back wall of the trap. The trap’s advanced smart circuit technology senses the rodent and instantly delivers 8,000 volts of electricity for two full minutes, ensuring a permanent kill. The Rat Zapper Ultra Rat Trap kills up to 60 rodents per set of 4 ‘D’ batteries (not included).
Designed for indoor use or anywhere it’s not exposed to outdoor elements, the reusable Rat Zapper Ultra Rat Trap provides years of effective rodent control—perfect for attics, garages, basements, and sheds. The trap does not use any poisons or chemicals, but as with any electronic device, it should be used with caution around children and pets.

Simple To Bait and Use
The Rat Zapper Ultra Rat Trap is easy-to-use. Simply insert four ‘D’ batteries (not included) into the battery compartment and replace the cover. Then, using a Q-tip or toothpick (to avoid leaving your scent), bait the trap through the entrance by adding an enticing snack like peanut butter or dry pet food on or along the back wall of the trap. Place the rodent trap in areas of noticeable activity or lengthwise along the wall with the entrance side closest to the wall. Flip the switch to ‘on’, and it’s good to go—a green light will blink once to indicate the trap is functioning properly.
When there’s a kill, the indicator light on top of the trap will blink red. For easy, hygienic, no-touch, no-see disposal, simply tip to safely dump the dead rodent directly into the trash. For optional remote monitoring, attach the 12-foot Rat Zapper Rat Tale (sold separately).

The Rat Zapper Ultra Rodent Trap offers you more kills and longer stand by times. This trap is perfect for larger rats (and mice too), ongoing rodent infestations and commercial applications. The kill chamber is larger than the Rat Zapper Classic. Bait with ordinary pet food or another high-protein bait (peanut butter,etc.). Mice and rats enter the chamber and are dispatched with a powerful jolt of electricity. If they'll fit in the chamber, the Rat Zapper will dispatch them. No blood, no gore, no mess and no poisons to endanger your pets or the environment. Flashing kill light tells you when you have a catch; simply tip the Rat Zapper and let the dead rodent slide out. Dimensions: Approximately 4 in x 4.75 in x 11.5 in. Approximately 60 kills with one set of 4 alkaline "D" cell batteries (not included). Easy to use and reusable.

I read and followed the instructions carefully. I placed the unit and killed one rat with it. So far so good, but things went downhill from there.
I wiped it out with a damp washcloth and let it dry, stored it in the garage with batteries out. Later on, I placed it again in an area I knew to have rodents. When I checked it the next day, the red light was flashing as if to indicate a "kill" but the trap was empty. I shrugged, reset it, and tried again. Same result. Then I tried a third time, but this time I was working in the area for a while after setting the trap. A few minutes after setting it, I began to hear a buzzing, crackling electrical sound. I looked at the trap and saw the red light flashing. No rodents had entered the trap. It continued to buzz/crackle. When I touched the switch to turn it off, it shocked me.
The batteries came out and it went into the trash. I cannot trust it to kill rodents, or to NOT harm any other animals or burn the house down.
UPDATE: It has been 9 days and we now have 9 chipmunks taken care of. Having the Rat Zapper inside a plastic container during rainy days has worked. I only brought it in one overnight because we were expecting severe thunderstorms. I see many complaints that their unit has died after a few months. So I will have to wait and see for that. But so far, I highly recommend this unit.
UPDATE: This is a non-stop killer. Right now we are up to 20 chipmunks and 1 squirrel who got in by mistake. Highly recommended!
When I found this "Rat Zapper" I was immediately intrigued. After using it for about 2 weeks I have had no issues with it. This is my new routine using this:
1. I discovered a hole in my garage ceiling that rats climb in and out of, and placed the trap near their entrance.
2. I placed a chunk of cheese inside the rat zapper, and another just outside the zapper to lure rodents in
3. I turn the power switch on and a "green light" flashes once letting you know it is "armed"
4. I plugged in the optional "Rate Tale" accessory that flashes a red light to let you know you caught a rodent.
5. The next morning I'll see the "Rat Tale" light flashing, I'll verify if there is a rodent in the trap, and then I'll dump the body out.
I basically just keep repeating steps 1 through 5 and so far I have been catching 1 rodent per day. The trap uses 4 D size batteries and shocks the rat just enough to kill it, so it won't cook it and make it stuck to the trap or anything gross. It basically just looks like a sleeping rat that can easily be dumped out without having to touch it directly.
If you are looking for a clean, easy, and humane way to deal with a rat or mouse problem, I can't recommend this enough.
