But so what? It's a really, really, really good book--lucid, clear, humane. I'm delighted to see that it's just come out in a new Kindle edition with some contemporary addenda. (Schmidtz complements the first edition's text with an updated introduction, new reflections at the end of each chapter, and a new conclusion, giving the reader a sense of how his thinking was developed and how his earlier work looks to him now.) It's really outstanding, thoughtfully integrating work from moral philosophy and rational choice theory, and anyone who wonders how to do work at the border between metaethics and normative ethics couldn't do better than to read it.
