"Sometimes it's not just the person who suffers from PTSD who's the victim. The people around him can be just as impacted by post traumatic stress disorder. It's been months, but you're not moving on...and you're not making progress. You're too young and too smart to get stuck in a battle you’re not equipped to fight."
He needed a minute to get his sh@@ together. He'd been skating on the thin ice of sanity for the past few months, and if he walked into this room with so much as a twitch, Colonel Grey would slap him with a medical discharge.
Too bad ALANON didn't accept ex-girlfriends of PTSD survivors. She'd probably learn some useful stress-fighting tips. But for now she would settle for the good ole James family denial.
I wish the author had included links for education and help with PTSD.
FYI, Unstoppable Heroes is an resource for information:
I may re-read this story and always look forward to other works by this author.
Hoyt (main character) is a character that draws you into his story completely. He has some very big issues to overcome before he can move forward in his life, and Hayden (heroine) is just the woman who can help him. The question is: Will he let her? I became very emotionally involved with Hoyt's character and plight, and I believe that you will become involved and connected with him too. The secondary characters that we are familiar with are in this book again. They are all likable and interesting and enrich the story immensely. Of course, there is great action and suspense in the story that will draw you in from the first page up until the very end.
And so AGAIN: Very emotional, sizzling romance, great suspense, exciting and fast paced - never a dull moment! I am so psyched for the next book! Love this author!

Ravaged River book 6 in the Men of Mercy series was a thrilling 5 star read.
Romance, Suspense, Mystery, Alpha Male, Strong female
He didn’t deserve any woman, let alone one as perfect as Hayden. But he wanted her like he wanted to breathe.
What a thrilling read. There was so much going on I couldn’t put it down.
This is Hayden and Hoyt’s story told in alternating POV.
After Hoyt was held hostage and tortured he pushed Hayden away and spiraled into a deep depression.
He told you he didn’t want you. Move on. Special Forces soldiers who’ve been through what he went through never come back whole.
Hayden is struggling to move on from Hoyt, she knows that he still loves her. She takes a friends advice and agrees to go to Chance’s party, a man that has been coming to the coffee shop to see her nonstop for months. While there she can’t shake the feeling that she is being watched.
When all heck breaks loose Hayden finds herself face to face with the man she is trying to forget
“Hoyt”. Due to threats on the Special Forces team and their families, they are on lockdown. Hoyt has been ordered to protect Hayden. Now that she’s back in his sights, she is not letting him go no matter what. “He is good for me. He is the only man good for me.” Will she be able to break through his barriers?
“No one on this planet is good enough for her, but I love her. And I’ll spend the rest of my life taking care of her.Read more ›
Having read the previous 5 installments to the Men of Mercy Series in the last 2 weeks, I was happy that the 6th installment was released on Saturday January 30, 2016 so I could find out what happens with Hoyt Crowe and Hayden James. The series focuses is the men in the Army Special Forces and are on the Task Force Scorpion (TF-S), a Branch of Joint Special Operators Command (JSOC) out of Ft. Grenada, MS.
In book 3 we learned a lot about Hoyt Crowe in his brother’s story, Jared. In book 3, Hoyt was kidnapped by his cousin and girlfriend who tortured him with a flaying knife, to an inch of his life, literally. When Jared Crowe took his brother, Hoyt, back to Crowe Mountain where they were born because Jared wanted revenge. His Aunt tried to kill Jared (9) and Hoyt (6) after their parents died, Jared never thought his brother would pay the price instead of himself.
Special Forces operative Hoyt Crowe now has a broken body, mind and spirit. Now three months latter his wounds are still healing with the deepest of his wounds on his face. Now his lips pulled in a sideways smile even when he frowns. As he looked in a mirror he saw a monster and the nightmares took him back to that mountain and experience the torture all over again. Now, his biggest adversary is not a terrorist, it’s himself.
Hayden James, Hunter and Ranger’s (book 1 & 2) sister, loves Hoyt and stayed by his side through the worst part of his recovery. She watched as Hoyt slid into PTSD and now a very hardened man. But, one day he sent her away, he didn’t even have the “guts” to do it himself, he sent Jared. Hoyt knew it was for the best because she deserved so much better and he felt he would always be a broken man.Read more ›
