One of my absolute favorite series of all time, it's the very first manga I ever read when I was in middle school, and it feels so good to have a copy of my own. It's kinda unfortunate that Hiro Mashima is so much more well known for Fairy Tail, as I personally believe that Rave Master is a much better series in terms of actual character and plot development. If you're already a Hiro Mashima fan and checking this out just because, be aware that his artwork is not as refined as it is in Fairy Tail, but it's still beautiful, especially in the two page spreads. I can't recommend this title enough, It will always be one of my favorites, and I can't wait to finish collecting the entire series so I can binge read it.

This series was one of the first manga series I ever read and still continues to impress me to this very day. Hiro Mashima is awesome! If you love adventure and action with occasional fanservice then this is the series for you!
Plus it will make Fairy Tail (also by Mashima-sensei) more enjoyable as the mangaka likes to throw in a bone to Rave fans every once in a while.

Don't bother getting this now, the series is out-of-date, try a newer 'Hiro Mashima' Sensei series.
Might just be me but this type of style just doesn't work for me...... I found myself read it, then getting the next book 2, then on to the next. but something just didn't feel right, not connecting at all here.

Haru Glory had been living a peaceful life on the isolated Garage Island but all that changes one day when, while fishing, he finds a strange `dog' and then saves an old man from someone from the evil organization Demon Card who use the destructive power of the Dark Bring. Haru discovers that the old man is a veteran from the war against the Dark Bring fifty years ago and now that the evil stone is once again causing devastation only the power of the sacred stone Rave can defeat it.

I originally started to read `Rave Master' because I am a great fan of Hiro Mashima's current manga `Fairy Tail' and I wanted to see what his first manga was like. Overall the series is very good, not quite as good as it's successor but still entertaining. At this early stage in the story the artwork is still rough in places and the plot doesn't really get going all that much either but both of these things do improve as the series goes on. The translation is okay although I do have wonder why they changed the name of the sword Ten Commandments to Ten Powers.

As a whole `Rave Master' is a very entertaining series but it does take a few volumes for it to get good and this first volume is worth around three to three and a half stars.
