About Raven West
Raven West was one of the very first print-on-demand (POD) authors when her novel “Red Wine for Breakfast” was published with the AOL Writers Club in 1999.
Before M.J. Rose reached fame for her e-book on a disk, “Red Wine For Breakfast” was published by Book-On-Disc.Com (June 24, 1999). Before Dan Poynter made his fortune as the marketing guru in the Print-On-Demand industry, the novel was one of the first books published in that format by iUniverse, (July 2, 1999).
Before Kindle, “Red Wine for Breakfast” moved to SMASHWORDS in ebook form.
Her second novel “First Class Male” was published by independent publisher Lighthouse Press, but when that company folded, she took over all publishing rights and re-distributed her novels through Amazon’s “Create Space”.
Her non-fiction book “Rescuing Ruby: How I Rescued My Father from Greedy Cousins, Thieving Attorneys and the Florida Guardianship System” by Robin Westmiller, J.D. has reached as high as #4 on the Amazon best-seller list.
West has appeared as a guest on numerous radio and cable TV broadcasts. She’s been a book-signing author at Book Expo Association (BEA) in both New York and Los Angeles as well as a featured author at the Los Angeles Times Book Festival and Santa Barbara, Ojai and Ventura County book fairs.
She writes a BLOG: From a Bird’s Eye View and was recently featured on the USA Storytellers Project.

Blog postThere has been so much going on in my life after I completed the first draft of Vashti’s Daughter back in February, I had to take a break from the writing world.
About a week ago I had some free time (about 10 minutes) and read through comments on the Women’s Fiction Writer’s Facebook page. There was a mention of a new form of publishing – digitally – through a company based in Singapore called Good Novel.

Blog postIF I could only SING, I’d form a PROTEST flash mob and change a few words of the great Les Miserable song: “Do you Hear the people sing, singing the song of ANGRY men (and women) It’s the music of a people who WILL NOT WEAR MASKS AGAIN!”
WTF? We were PROMISED if we got the vaccine, we could THROW AWAY these ineffective, anti-social, suffocating POS, but because of a few A-HOLES who won’t, WE ALL HAVE TO SUFFER!

Blog postI’ve always found it much easier on the eyes to read a printed page and not stare at a computer screen, especially when it comes to reading a BOOK… or the first draft of what may, someday BECOME a “real” book!
Here’s the “pitch” for my 97,000 word best seller to be:
Vashti’s Daughter – A book publisher discovers a mysterious manuscript and learns she’s the reincarnated daughter of a Persian queen from 366 BCE. Risking her company and romantic relationship with the author, she6 months ago Read more -

Blog postI’ve heard about dream boards but never thought about making one until I got close to finishing my 4th novel – so, here is mine – a Pulitzer prize in fiction, an Emmy for the Netflix series, a house in Santa Barbara with a view and a cool Chevy Camaro convertible – in garnet red (or midnight blue) or maybe both! If ya gonna dream, might as well dream BIG!!

Blog postJoined the Women’s Fiction Writers Association a few months ago and have never enjoyed an organization of professionals so much! This will be the FINAL push I need to finish my fourth novel Vashti’s Daughter before February 24 – PURIM 5781!
Currently, I just passed the 85,000 word mark with only three chapters left of the story. That makes it my second longest novel – First Class Male was 96,000, although it started out as a 2,000 word short story!

Blog post(This is an article I wrote the Summer of 1999 for my Amazing Authors Showcase column. Still very pertinent today)
Watching the Olympics this past September and seeing the profiles of all the athletes who were competing, made me realize how very much alone we, as writers are in own field of dreams. Each athlete had personal stories to tell about coaches, teammates, family, friends and sometimes entire towns cheering them on. When they had doubts, when they fell, numerous supporters we8 months ago Read more -

Chapter 2 is 6 pages and 3,600 words. Not that I’m counting or anything. Jus

Blog postI realize I’m 4 days behind on my “chapter a day” challenge, but truth is, I had planned on just re-writing and editing the first 27 chapters I’d already written…. but in the world of imagination and creativity what is planned is seldom ever what is actually what happens
As I was writing, so many more characters were “born” into the story. As a result, the intricacies of the plot kept changing. My network of ideas kept growing, my “imaginary” people kept interrupting my chain of thoug8 months ago Read more -
