Serious jigsaw puzzle, clever “escape room” twist

First, make sure you a large table you can work on this for a while. Just putting the jigsaw puzzle together took a few weeks and we were working at a table too low for the task. (We kept having to take breaks because our backs hurt from bending over and looking for pieces.)
But the jigsaw puzzle itself is very well designed with its own misdirections and pitfalls, before you even start solving the mystery. Very satisfying.
The mystery puzzle surprised us in the direction it went but was, again, quite satisfying once finished. (And there’s an online hint system if you need a push to get going.)

If it weren’t for the fact that we were excited to get our table back, we would have left the completed puzzle out for much longer. It felt like we had really done something by finishing it.

We have done mystery puzzle games before, but this was our first one of these kinds from Ravensburger. The puzzle can be a bit challenging to put together, only because the pictures on the box are not exactly like the picture on the puzzle. Very close but a few little changes. This is smart because part of solving the mystery is based on the picture in the puzzle so best not to reveal it completely up front on the box.

The pieces can fit together even if they don't go together, so it takes some attention to make sure you have them in the correct places. Once you do and get the puzzle assembled, the mystery begins. We were not sure how to start as there are no directions on what to solve, but we did know there were seven things to look for in this puzzle. So it helps if you can look around the picture and find something like a math problem or set of numbers that might mean something. That really helped us get started and work through the mystery. It was very fun and now that we got the hang of it we bought 4 more other ones to do.

Biggest advise is don't over think it. Coming into this having done other mystery puzzles we were geared up to solve the challenge. Not saying it was easy, but for example if something turns out to be 4 number, that might be the answer, so no need to add them up , divide or try and relate which number matches which letter - they weren't that level of complexity, so we were creating our own challenge. Once we realized the first couple of clues, we rolled on from there much easier without over thinking the clues.

Only took a few hours to put together and a few more to solve the mystery. Time may vary for yourselves. But we loved the experience and look forward to doing the rest we bought. Overall 4 stars because some of the clues end up between the puzzle pieces making it hard to read. Granted that's expected in the printing process but other than that, was a great time.

Large Puzzle, small pay-off and not much escaping

The puzzle was a single large 750 piece puzzle. Without spoilers, the image on the box doesn’t match the puzzle intentionally, it does however act as a small guide. We unintentionally discovered some similar pieces would fit in other locations (not a big deal). When the image was finished then the escape portion began, which was fairly simple, and didn’t feel very creative on the game creators behalf. The final solve had little payoff, not even really a congratulatory storyline or anything. I’ve had better success with the “Exit the board game” branded jigsaw puzzles. They consist of three smaller puzzles in each box and build to any actually storyline. This puzzle however is reusable and can be regifted.

We have completed several of these escape puzzles and have enjoyed them all. It says that this one in particular has unique pieces, which we took to mean that unless it’s the correct piece it wouldn’t fit, that is not accurate. Like every other one of these we’ve done, pieces will fit willy nilly and you’ll have to rely on matching up minute details to make sure you’ve got the right placement.

Great concept to have a bunch of hidden clues and puzzles within a puzzle! Fun story and details, with the enjoyable, added challenge of assembling the puzzle with some minor aspects of the image being different than what’s shown on the box… There’s a thorough walkthrough online that you can access by scanning a QR code, with step-by-step hints for each of the “escape” puzzles buried in the image. I did need to do this, but once you get the hang of these types of “escape” puzzles, the others get more intuitive. Great fun!
