"I love you, my dearest Briar Rose." His whispered breath floated over me like a cool cloud, stimulating my passion to greater heights than I ever knew possible. It was more than my body could bear, and I collapsed under the weight of my desire. Falling limply into his arms, I opened the petals of my flower to the sting of his kiss.”
When Briar Rose accepts a new position at Ravenscroft Hall, she attracts the attention of a young estate lawyer in town. But soon, the mansion’s eccentric owner pulls Briar into his cold yet intoxicating embrace, and she finds herself torn between easygoing Jake Caldwell and the mysterious Archer Ravenscroft. Alarmed by a string of murders shaking up the small village, Briar uncovers a ghostly mystery that will turn one or both of her infatuations deadly.

Briar is a contemporary damsel in distress. Readers will root for her and worry about her at equal lengths. The eerie Ravenscroft Hall is a fabulous, old-money, old-stone setting complete with sinister servants and shadowy corners. Love and drama and storms and danger!
It's nearly impossible to put the book down. Saint Claire ends chapters with little teases. They are not cliff hangers that will frustrate readers, but nudges to keep reading. It's been awhile since a book kept me up past midnight!
If you like Darcy Coates or vintage V.C. Andrews, you'll love Ravenscroft Hall.
I read Ravenscroft Hall through Kindle Unlimited.

A virginal heroine initially oblivious to the danger she is in takes a job in a mist-shrouded old mansion house replete with cruel master, unwelcoming staff, a love interest she knows little about… oh, and people in the local town are being killed.
The thing I love about Saint Claire’s writing is how quickly she always pulls me in, how effortlessly she seems to keep the story moving, and how she dangles possible resolutions.
As with her previous works that I’ve read – Unmasked and Fashion Victims – I found myself barrelling towards the conclusion, thinking to myself, ‘Wait, is this going to turn out to be a (redacted), a (redacted) or a (redacted)?!’
Given that Ravenscroft Hall sits squarely within a very specific tradition the arrival of each gothic trope felt welcome and raised a smile as our modern day heroine found herself mired and sinking in a much older world.
For fans of the classic Universal movies and Twilight series alike.
