Everyone has that one author you can’t help but fan girl over, and mine is Belle Aurora. Not with just Raw but her other series such as Friend-zoned, Night Fury, and her standalones.
“Not everyone can be a fairy-tale hero.” He pauses a moment, then adds, “The world needs villains too.”
Raw will forever have a piece of my heart! It is my #1 favorite book of all time. It left me in tears, and I never cry but this book right here made me sob in agony. I can’t explain it, but Belle Aurora’s writing is simply outstanding! I have read Raw to many times to count and it keeps getting better and better.
Belle Aurora’s novels are a definite must read! Every single one of her books will leave you breathless. You will fall in love with her characters, your heart will break, and slowly it will glue itself back together.
Back to Raw,
Alexa is a young sweet independent woman, who is down to earth and wants to help everyone around her. Next there is Twitch, who is none of those traits! He is not a good man, and he knows it. Twitch is the monster that sleeps under children’s beds. Well that’s what he wants you to think.
It’s dark, twisted and downright sexy!
“I need her.”
“I want her.”
“I will own her.”
But slowly Alexa breaks his shell little by little! Even though he is a bad man there is some good in him. That only she sees.
“This is not a love story. This is a story of love gone wrong.” - love the author note, because it is so true!
The Connection between Twitch and Lexi is indescribable. It was hot as hell, erotic, steamy, and Raw! Lexi has never felt more alive, the things that Twitch does with her mind and body should terrify her, but it doesn’t.
Twitch is obsessed with Lexi some would find it creepy as hell. But not me I found it HAWT!! One minute he is hot the next cold. His character made the book for me so much more special. Do to his past and issues he isn’t normal like everyone else. He understands things differently and that has made him the man he is today!
This is not a book full of sunshine and rainbows, it’s the exact opposite.
Personally loved the ending, so many theories on to what is next to come in the series. My friends even my mom who I recommended the book too is obsessed with this book! We send so many messages to each other guessing what will happen next.
One thing I will say is that I am so ready for Dirty!
This book got me out of my comfort zone, and I am glad I read it. It is a unforgettable story that love can be found in the most unlikely places. If you have not read this book, give it a chance. You won’t regret it!
The sex is definitely worth mentioning here. There are some instances of violent sex here which will turn the stomach of some. Consider yourself warned. Others won't mind, some will even find it hot.
I know that for some, the idea that a (almost) rape victim could possible be turned on and enjoy role playing a rape scenario was impossible to fathom, but those people don't know each and every rape victim, nor do they speak for them. When Lexi had serious qualms about the enjoyment of such, she went so far as to speak with a psychologist she knew about it. No, it's not unheard of and there's nothing wrong with it. To imply otherwise is, in the minds of some rape victims, a form of victimization.

The biggest problem I had with this story was the ending. Without going too much into detail, it just didn't make sense as to why the author chose to end it the way she did. It does seem that making sequels to books is all the rage now but, honestly, I just don't care for it. Not saying that she does plan on a sequel, but it certainly leaves room for one - or maybe there is already one and I just didn't come across it yet. Normally, when a book ends in a (potential) cliffhanger, I rate it three stars max, however, because I enjoyed the story so much otherwise, I felt compelled to give it four.
I've read dark and I didn't find this dark really. I've read really, really dark and this wasn't it. This for me, was sadly one of those cases where I just couldn't warm to the main characters. I had a roller coaster of emotions with Twitch. I hated him and the way he was, but my heart ached a little for what had made him the way he was. As for Lexi, I had trouble coming to terms with her attitude. She'd been so trusting of someone who had been stalking her for a long time. She seemed so accepting of him, his ways and even when she found out what he did for a living, she was so casual about it all given her job was as a social worker. It just didn't add up for me and I tried, I really tried to love the two of them, but I just couldn't. I kind of knew the ending couldn't be a HEA but I guess I hadn't expected what happened in the very end of it. At the end of the day, I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it, but I will read more by the author because I think she told the story well, it just wasn't my kind of story.
