The biggest issues for me to dive into the world of Raw food was the time. I didn't think I could take the time out of my schedule to start shopping for raw food and I was worried about the prep time. I was completely wrong. Raw Star Recipes showed me how I could really do something great for my health and actually reduce the amount of time it took me to prep my meals.

I'm really surprised by the "negative" reviews on here. This book lived up to my expectations and is a great investment in your health.

I have been leaning towards vegetarian, and now raw. These are delicious, easy, and quick recipes to follow. If you are afraid to buy, get it from the library first, but you won't go wrong with this purchase. Add it to your collection, or if you are new to raw like me, it's a great beginner for starting raw for the first time.

I really didn't know what to expect with this cookbook. I had eaten at a raw food restaurant once in NYC and I wasn't that impressed. I tried many of the recipes in this book and was more than pleasantly surprised. Everything I made tasted great. I tried a week's worth of eating raw and I lost the weight I was hoping to. In the process, I felt very energized and healthy.

I was really, really excited about this book... and I really, really, really wanted to like it.... Unfortunately, I found it to be pretty disappointing. I think the title is a little misleading, as most of these recipes, in my opinion, would take me way longer than ten minutes to prepare. A lot of the recipes require dehydration time, as well (which, admittedly, is standard fare in most raw cookbooks. I also have to admit that I am a novice when it comes to raw food; maybe someone with more experience would have an easier time with these recipes. I also feel like most of these recipes would not become go-to, day-to-day items, which is what I was really looking for. Furthermore, a lot of recipes had really blurry pictures (all had color pics, though). I will say that Bryan's passion and talent for raw cooking is apparent, and I did like and heartily agree with everything he wrote in the introduction. Maybe this book will work for others, but for me it just doesn't. One more thing-- when I first read the reviews of this book a couple of weeks ago, there were a couple of 2-star reviews that are now gone? Not sure why... Instead of this book, I HIGHLY, highly recommend Mimi Kirk's Live Raw. Even though I didn't like the book, I AM intrigued about possibly ordering his knives.

Bryan's book is a wonderful addition to the collection of recipe books in our kitchen. His approach is contemporary, innovative, healthy and you can have a lot of fun following his recipes. My partner and I have already thoroughly enjoyed putting together some meals following his suggestions. I've also had the good fortune to meet him in person, and he is an inspiration - fun, charismatic and very positive. Bern Galvin

Solid addition to my vegetarian cookbook shelf. Healthy options, vibrant pics, and new ideas. I got my mom one too, and she (a health nut from the 70s) said that she could have wrote the book a long time ago. But she didn't.
