- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2020Good quality mouse for the money worth.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2019one of the best mice i have ever owned, works great, daily use on my laptop and desktop.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2018These are my first impressions. I've used an Abyssus league of legends, and Abyssus 2014, Abyssus Mirror(odd, but not counterfeit, Chinese version), and now the Abyssus Essential.
Clicks are much stiff. Middle click is much stiff. Plastic is much more rugged(and the shell casing is secure with no flex, nor is there any sign of scroll rattle or dpi button rattle), but it is all matte plastic with a slight texture. Feels quite slick/non-grippy out of the box.
In game it aims pretty well - to keep up with tracking high speed targets. Experimentally, the aim-ability is quite unique and on this short use I find it plays different to the other Abyssi and I do find it a keeper. However, there's less slower speed aiming comfort (whether it's due to shape, material comfort, sensor, weighting, or mouse skates that's responsible would take quite a bit more thought to describe any deficiency perfectly).
Could there be enough wrong to call this too much of a gimmick? I'm not 100% sure at this point, but I will mention I have just tried both the Abyssus Essential and Atheris in the store and the Atheris seemed to have a nicer wheel and clicks on first impression.
I would also mention I look/out for Razer Philips Twin Eye mice and buy most Razer Ambi mice. On this note, I would say the original Diamondback, Abyssus, and Deathadder were most comfortable - and I have not found a perfected flared front ambidextrous design like the Lachesis/Gigabyte Thor. The clicks on the Abyssus essential has clicks close to the Diamondback 5g/Chroma. Overall, I think Razer makes some odd mice that are hard to critique, using designs that aren't perfectly unlikable. Which I would say is similar to other gaming mice producers, but in different fashions. Hence, finding a perfect mouse becomes pretty hard to imagine, and also because there are a lot of designs that go in and out of production with various changes.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2019Excellent mouse for this price
- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2019I bought this mouse specifically because it was a 3 button mouse with RGB lighting. I don't want or need more than left, right, and a scroll wheel with a middle click, but it seems that anything with RGB has to be loaded with a dozen programmable buttons.
This mouse requires the Razer Synapse 3 software to control and customize everything. The lighting cannot be changed from it's default setting of spectrum cycling, or turned off, without this software, which is also an issue if you're not using this mouse with a Windows PC, the OpenRazer project doesn't list compatibility with this model of Abyssus, and I haven't tested if it might work. The Synapse 3 software is bloated, cloud connected, invasive, and had I known I wouldn't have been able to do something as simple as turn off the RGB lighting without it, I never would have spent this kind of money on a mouse. Yes, I'm aware that I should have perhaps done a little more research, but, it's a mouse, it didn't even occur to me that a mouse in 2019 would require software for a basic function like turning on and off the lights. The generic RGB mouse I was using previously didn't need any software.
All that being said, there are some good features here on the hardware side, the mouse is ambidextrous, appears to be of decent quality construction, the RGB lighting is clear and bright, it has large slippery glide feet, and a fairly high DPI and response rate. Also, while the cable is just your basic rubber insulated cable and not braided, it is adequately long.
Overall, I can't recommend this product at all because of the awful software and total inability to adjust any basic functions of the mouse without it. But if you are fine with needing to register an account with Razer to change the settings on your mouse (yes, I know there's a guest mode, but the software was nagging me repeatedly to sign up), this might be for you. So, 2 stars for build quality and features, and that's it, time to shop for another mouse.

I'm a big Razer fan. And I've owned alot of the higher end Razer mice like the oroborus. This is perfect for my new setup and it's pretty comfy. It's basically just the deathadder with underglow
