The back lighting is described it as having 5 levels of lighting, which I took to mean 5 levels of adjustable brightness. Razer figures that "off" and "pulse" are a level of lighting, which I would probably not agree. There are 3 levels of brightness, I would say: dim, medium, and high. Then 'pulse' is the next option. The dim setting in the dark I thought was actually not quite dim enough, in the dark it was a bit too intense a contrast in my opinion.
I didn't have any trouble with key caps catching & pressing adjacent key caps as other reviewers mentioned, so this must have been corrected. The graphic decal looks great, has a high quality finish and helps reduce the appearance of dust and fingerprints. There are USB ports and outlets for headphone and mic jack. The nicely braided cord has 4 recepticals at the end of it (2 USB, and 1 audio & 1 mic both 3.5mm), make sure the back of your PC has available slots to take advantage of the features of the keyboard (if you want to use all these functions.)
Overall I give it a 3 stars, mainly because of the description of the number of lighting levels, and inconsistent feel of the keys on the unit I received.
THIS keyboard has incredible tactile response - my typographical errors are fewer than before, the LIGHTING is superior in ALL ambient lighting, and the unit feels substantial, weighting several times as much as the generic keyboards. I love the fact that it's got five dedicated keys for recording your own keystrokes, and the built in USB port is great for use with my Blue Snowball microphone.
If you use a keyboard a lot, I assure you that this one is worth every single penny.
The only problem I've had with it is that ONCE the "F6" key stuck, but I jiggled it, and it's been fine since then. Maybe I'm just lucky, but this keyboard is the best value that I've ever had for the money.
Pros-Well built and solid
-Great lighting and control of it
-Amazing tactile feedback on keys
-Just the right amount of kotkeys
-Very responsive mechanical keys
-Love the ability to launch programs using hotkeys.
Cons-Only the numbers and letters are backlit..( i know its a gaming keyboard , but i cant see any of the puncuation or shift keys even in good lighting, never mind the dark, my 80.00 razer lycosa light everything up but my 130.00 blackwidow does not??)
-The cord is kind of flimsy, could be beefier. Not a huge deal as the keyboard is so solid it stays put.
