sounds good right? so why the 1 star?
-you can't just take it out of your bag and just plug it in like any other laptop. it simply will not start charging. the laptops will only start charging if you open it, turn in on and THEN plug it in. i went in to work with a dead laptop 2 days this week because of this.
-palm rejection on the trackpad doesn't work. at all. this is something i never had to think about with apple computers. the macbook's trackpads were always able to tell my fingers from my palm and my palm never interfered with my typing. this goes for the 2009, 2012 and 2016 models i've owned. on this computer everything is always flying around when i type.
-the secondary functions on the keys are not illuminated! WTF??? this is so stupid. only realized this after i got the laptop. it's a pain working on this thing in an airplane when it's dark. i never had this problem with any of the apple, dell or lenovo laptops i've ever worked on, even the ones that cost 1/3 as much.
-new, proprietary charger with no smaller, lower wattage travel charger option. even when a laptop is very powerful, you can still charge it with a lower output charger. it will charge slower, but it will still charge. Razer needs to get their act together and make a lower wattage charger.
-while on the topic of chargers, god forbid you break or lose it, because it costs $140 to replace it. i've never seen a charger this expensive.
-the question mark key is in the wrong place... i don't even know what to say about this. except for the fact that this is dumb.
if you are going to rip off Apple's designs, which razer has absolutely been doing for years, at least rip them off correctly.
these are all stupid problems to have on a laptop that costs $2900 (for the Europeans reading this, that's the price BEFORE sales tax/VAT). this laptop is obviously geared towards professionals, and not gamers. it's using an IPS screen that's beautiful to look at but worthless for gaming, especially with a GTX 1070 maxQ. if this laptop was ~$1700, i could maybe overlook these problems. but at nearly $3000 this is totally unacceptable.
PS: i have contacted razer about the battery situation, which by the away is a problem on all 5 of our laptops, and so far all we got is troubleshooting steps that are getting us nowhere.
to add to the laundry list of problems, two of our laptops will not go to sleep when closed. typically when you close the lid the laptop should sleep, which it did in the beginning and what all *normal* laptops should do. but after following Razer's battery trouble shooting steps (uninstalling battery driver, etc) on two laptops, they aren't always going to sleep. closed the laptops with 50-60% battery, opened it it a couple hours later with battery down to 5% and shut down warnings. the power settings are all default, they were not touched.
it seems the issues are inherent to the 4K model. 1080p owners seem happy.
