First of all, they're earbuds. Regardless of what the product description says, you will never achieve the bass response of a good set of on-ear or over-the-ear headphones. If you're ordering these with that expectation, you're gonna have a bad time. The MOST IMPORTANT thing to keep in mind with earbuds is, if they aren't sealing properly in your ear they will sound like hot garbage. When I opened them up, I put them in with the ends they ship with and thought "well that other review I read was 100% correct, they sound like crap". Guess what, those ends weren't sealing properly. When I put a different set of ends on the buds so they would seal in my ears, it made a world of difference. These headphones sound great and completely meet my expectation of sound quality.
So why 4 stars instead of 5? In an effort to have a good look, Razer over-designed the buds. There is an edge that surrounds the bud and the material makes them have a noticeable weight and can cause discomfort. It's not a "these are going to pull your head down when they're in" kind of weight, but for ear buds it's obvious they are a bit heavier. The edge that I mentioned will feel a bit weird as you're adjusting to getting them positioned right. Some of you might not like it at all, so if you're considerate of the tactile aspect, I'd probably avoid these.
This is getting long winded so I'll end it by saying, if you wear glasses and are looking for an alternative to on or over-the-ear headphones these are great. If you're just going to be using them with a PC, you can probably go with the $50 pair that doesn't have the controls. I wanted the flexibility so I went with this pair but the controls do nothing on PC.
Aesthetically appealing if you are into Razer green and black.
Comes with multiple ear fitting adapters.
Audio quality is lacking, almost no bass (even though box says "hammering in the bass.") It sounds like if someone sets the equalizer to being all treble and little bass.
Microphone was cutting out on the first set I ordered, so I got a new set but on this one the people I have spoken to say it is very quiet I end up taking the headset off to make calls.
Jagged rig on the ear bud designed for gripping (I assume) rubs the edge of my ear causing irritation after awhile of use, not comfortable.
Inline controller is very low quality plastic feels easily breakable.
I am a long time supporter of Razer I have keyboards, mice, mouse pads, and head phones. I have given them all 5 star reviews and recommended to friends, but these ear buds are unacceptable. I am going to believe I somehow got 2 broken units and just stay away from this product from now on. There are products on the market right now half this price and 2x the sound quality and comfort. Maybe the Non-inline ear buds are good but 2 of the inlines now are not good at all and calling quality for the person you are calling is poor.
All of the above being said, the sound is far superior to the inexpensive ones. The bass is strong and the music overall is enjoyable. We wished it would have worked out. My son has all the other Razer RGB gaming items (Headphones, mouse, keyboard and mouse pad) and he wanted this as a complement for the other stuff. Sadly not to be.
