This mouse is great. A little smaller than your regular mouse though, something to keep in mind!

The bluetooth part is great because it means it doesnt take up a usb slot which is especially convenient on laptops.

However, i have to say, the bluetooth part was very dissapointing out of the box. In fact, the bluetooth part was a pain and basically unreliable. Thats until i got it fixed on windows.

If you're on windows and are having trouble using the mouse on bluetooth (pointer skipping frames, unresponsive, etc.) do this:

1. Open the device manager
2. Expand 'Bluetooth'
3. Right click your bluetooth controller (in my case it was 'Intel(R) Wireless bluetooth(R)') and click 'Properties'
4. Click the last tab called 'Power Management'
5. Untick the 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'

Thats it. The mouse will work perfectly. It will still turn off after awhile but thats normal and needed for battery purposes. The change is so big I'm surprised razer hasnt posted this on their page or product box/info, etc. As this mouse bluetooth aspect is basically unusable unless you follow these steps.

There have been 3 revisions of this mouse!

1) . The first one is supposed to have too much of a delay to wake up from sleep / too short of a delay to go to sleep.
2) . The second one (2013) I believe (I own one of these) worked to perfection, it woke up instantly without noticeable delay, excellent battery life (this one would have gotten 5 stars)
3) . The third revision went too far in delay killing, it guzzles down a set of AA batteries in a week!

+ great ergonomic shape
+ 4 extra buttons
+ works for left and right handers, but for each only 2 of the 4 extra buttons are easy to reach.
+ Bluetooth is just an excellent idea for ultrabooks with their USB port limitations.
+ options to run it as a wired mouse when the battery is down
+ power can be manually turned off with a slider at the bottom
+ dedicated control panel with a load of options
+ nice quality USB plugin cable
+ good quality pouch for keeping mouse and cable separate

- control panel may fail to detect the mouse, even if its connected or plugged in. Idiotically, the control panel will instantly exit, rather than giving you a chance to fix any potential issues.
- basic design flaw of the 4 Teflon pads under the mouse: instead of rounding off the pads, Razer gave them sharp ~20 degree angles, that tend to come loose and stick up. Then they will get stuck on soft cloth covered mouse pads and actually rip them up if you keep using the mouse. (I've had this happen on 2 of my 3 Orochis by now. You either have to perform surgery, filing or cutting the offending corner of the Teflon pad, or you can only use them on hard surfaces after that, or you have to call Razer to send you new Teflon pads.

Hi Niels,

Thanks for the review! There are two main versions of the Orochi, easily distinguished by their blue (original) or green (newest) lighting. Concerning your issues with battery life, the Orochi should be turned off using the bottom switch when not in use, such as when it is in your notebook bag or backpack. This will prevent it from waking up the sensor needlessly, which improves battery life. Using good batteries, the Orochi will get approximately 30 hours of continuous use.

The Orochi's primary purpose is gaming, and so it is designed first and foremost with the highest performance in mind. This does have some impact on battery life, but having the sensor turn off after short periods of inactivity can be disastrous when gaming. We hope this helps clarify the intent behind the Orochi, and we are glad to hear that you are happy with it overall.

Best Regards,

I am a solid Razer fan, so let that be a warning about how my perspective is skewed.

The mouse works well as wired or wireless.
The style of the mouse is exceptional. This is entirely relative, of course, but the angles and the lighting are eye-catching while subdued enough to fit in an office environment. The ergonomics are excellent, especially considering the size.
The build quality of the mouse is exceptional. It is extremely solid and not fragile at all. All of the individual pieces of the hardware fit precisely and beautifully.
The feel (materials, surface coating) of the mouse is exceptional. It has Razer's hardened matte plastic feel which helps your hands stay dry and helps your grip stay firm regardless.
The side buttons are well placed considering the size of the mouse. I have used more mice than I can count, and the placement of the side buttons makes an enormous difference in the comfort of the mouse. This mouse is very well designed.

Wireless is glitchy. That's it. That's the only con, but it is a pretty big one for me. I think this has to do with the limitations of the bluetooth standard, and I am more than willing to give Razer the benefit of the doubt, but the general instability of the wireless mode means that this mouse does not meet my needs.
Wireless Problem 1: The mouse timeout. This mouse goes to sleep very quickly, as noted by most reviewers. It doesn't bother me, and I knew about the issue when I bought the mouse. However, the fact that it goes to sleep seems to exacerbate its other wireless issues.
Wireless Problem 2: It can't seem to maintain a solid connection. The mouse likes to unpair itself randomly.

I recently replaced my decades-old two-button wireless Microsoft mouse with this Razer Orichi (2013). This mouse is perfect for those of us who used the claw-style grip while mousing and initially I was quite happy. The mouse itself felt great in hand, was super accurate for my Photoshop and gaming needs and really was an overall great package.

HOWEVER, like many others I experienced the dreaded cursor-hop while operating in Bluetooth wireless mode (i.e., no cable). This didn't happen right away but instead has steadily gotten worse and worse until I threw in the towel. I tried using just Windows drivers, Razer's Synapse driver updating program, etc., went through a number of driver uninstall/reinstalls and even wiped my OS and started fresh (needed to happen anyway, this was just a convenient opportunity). The hop continued and so I've sent this back to Amazon for a return/replacement.

I'll be taking this to LANWar this weekend (1/16/2015 thru 1/18/2015) and it'll get a real workout, so we'll see. I have high hopes for this device as the number of people recommending Razer to me for years now think I just got a one-off bad device. We shall see, and stars will adjust to reflect that.
