The Tartarus Gaming Keypad in the original version is the workhorse of my MMO game play. I have used the keypad every day for 4 years and thousands of hours of gaming. While I own the 25 key version of the razer tartarus, and the Logitech G13 as well, this is the best by far. It's like gaming mice. I like the Death Adder Elite which has just the right number of mouse buttons for my play. You can get one with lots more buttons, but you reach a point where that makes things worse instead of better.

The synapse software is just fine for all my razer products. So for my gaming opinion, I use this, I have a backup bought and stored in the case of a breakdown. In 4 years that has not happened.

I recently moved this this gaming keypad to my new laptop (Win10, not 11), but lately it's constantly asking me to login into the cloud over and over just to use it. Why do I have to keep giving my account information repeatedly? Why should I have to do this at all? Do you really think I'm going to use one of your current or future products after you've forced me into this nonsense? I'm really starting to hate this gaming keypad.

I wish people could still leave comments on here, so someone could tell me how to fix it. "Surely we can't have the peasants talking to each other!"

It will have to do. The adjustable palm rest is nice, but only has two settings, both are too close for my hand. I'll get something to stick to it to correct this in the near future. I like that it only has 15 buttons rather than a few million like a lot of game pads, easy to get to all the buttons you want. the lower button by the thumb hat gets stuck over my keyboard and it's somewhat hard to use without also hitting the hat. Since the things pads wont grip anything smoother than sand paper I'll probably be double sided taping it down anyway. fixing both issues. my big complaint is the directionals... if you were planning on using this for an MMO that uses ASDW to move, you can't use more than one hat button at a time. so, no going forward while turning allowed. this simply will not work for movement. I have it mapped out to my most commonly used skills. but even this is going to take a ton of getting used to. All in all, it's better than most that I've tried the logitech g13 was unusable in its awkwardness. also, synapse sucks. a lot. But it's manageable. Just don't try and use anything fancy or any of it's overlays or addons and it works good 'nuff.

I purchased this nearly a year ago, and I can't believe how I could ever play PC games without this! It took me a few weeks to get use to it and the software for setting keybinding to specific programs doesnt always work. But the overall shape and programmable keys is a life saver when it comes to playing multiple different genres of games as well as playing for long hours. I have used this keypad for more than 6 hours straight with no strain on my hands whatsoever, and love that I can program exactly what keys I want where. The joystick like button on the side is useful if using only the 4 button mode, I personally set it to the numbers 1-4 for use in most games. The 8 button mode is a bit tricky to use since they are so close together, but is usable to some extent if you get used to it.

slick, stylish, and fun keypad

I use this for a 3D modeling program, it helps streamline the flow of keyboard shortcuts. It's slick, stylish, and fun.

Pros? Your hand rests comfortably on the device. I find the dark and green color theme quite attractive. The buttons have a nice firm yet light feel to them. This keypad really streamlines the process of key combinations. It's fun to use and it looks stylish to boot.

Cons? Minor things. The directional thumb pad lets you select one of 8 directions for a new key map set. Up, Down, Left, Right are easy to select. But the four diagonals are a bit harder (e.g. I might mean to press diagonal but instead hit up). Easy fix, you just do it again but it is a minor annoyance. Consider it 4.5 stars but we don't have a half-star option.

There are three lights and the combinations of on-off for three means 2x2x2 = 8 combinations that indicates which key map set is currently active.

Overall, a wonderful device that makes complex button combinations rather easy and comfortable. You become much more efficient in gaming, software programs, or whatever you use it for. Highly recommended.

Good quality feel, I struggled a little bit but my 16 year old son picked it up immediately. Works well for those that can quickly reassign keys to new positions. This device has enough keys for WoW and other games like that, but not enough keys for a game like Starcraft 2 and the hotkeys associated with that.

HOWEVER! Buyer beware, the box we received from Amazon was previously opened and previously used, the device works well and Razer let me register it as ours for the warranty, but this add did NOT list this as a returned or refurbished product, I am a Prime member so I saved some money from ordering this device here instead of another website, but shipping us a previously opened product for full price is something that should seriously be reported.

I've been going 4 years strong with this and man I cant play with out! I love customization, The main reason I game PC. And this gives me not only that but comfort! I can game for hours without wrist strain, elbow fatigue, finger joints aching ect. As far as the device its self it has held up great, The keys still function great and honestly haven't ever had a problem with them. I cant say much for the stick because I never use it. and to be fair razer I don't think anyone does and it just gets in the way because of its awkward location to the thumb. For anyone thinking about membrane keys their great I dont care for super loud clicky "tactile" keys. These are tactile and responsive enough, they do it quietly and accurately. Will be getting a orb weaver soon!

A step down from the nostromo

First off allow me to specify that I'm a digital illustrator. I've used Razer's keypads to map photoshop (and other software) functions to streamline my work process. I was a huge fan of the Nostromo but unfortunately the tartarus doesn't live up to it.

The keypad is excellent, but I do have a gripe with the entire area where your thumb goes. The bottom thumb button (default space key) is extremely sensitive and can be flipped too easily. The thumbstick which defaults to arrow keys works great with arrow keys but as their inputs overlap it's completely useless at anything other than movement in games. I would use this thumbstick to map my zoom and brush size functions in photoshop, but the input overlap was often an issue, causing odd inputs and functions in photoshop. Everything worked well once I disabled all the possible combinations directly in photoshop but ultimately this shouldn't be an issue with the peripheral in the first place.

Ultimately it works well with most videogames, but the issues I've faced with it could also be issues for users remapping the thumbstick to non-movement related controls. And it's definitely a step down from the nostromo in every regard.

Disappointed in this. It doesn't stay flat on the table, so as you use it it wobbles back and forth almost like you have crumbs on the table or something even though it's totally flat. The keyboard I use right now on my PC is a ThinkPad USB one so fairly average travel similar to a laptop keyboard. This is like a full blown desktop keyboard, so the keys are huge and press down far like a keyboard from the 90s. So not what I'm used to.

I was hoping to use the joystick on the side for movement like a PS4 controller but it doesn't work. Each direction clicks so it's annoying to use, plus it's not very accurate. I think it's better to get a Razer Naga mouse instead and use a normal keyboard.

I've always used a gaming keypad since I became a pc gamer 15 years ago. I've been using a nostromo n50 and while it still works I wanted something new for my second computer. I chose the tartarus because it wouldn't break the bank compared to some of the other keypads out there but when I opened it and got it working (which was as easy as downloading the program off the razer site) there were a lot of features that really impressed me. First thing I noticed is that the thumbpad is actually a very comfortable, perfectly sized microswitch controller. Next there's a palm rest slider with two positions to fit an average size hand. I use the short palm rest setting if I want access to just the top row for league of legends or the long palm rest setting for the full keypad. What I'm trying to say is both palm rest settings are comfortable for me. I adjust it for the game I'm playing, not because only one fits. It's probably just as easy to say a woman's and man's average hand size setting. Next is the keypad itself. My nostromo n50 only has ten keys. I actually thought the bottom row would be awkward and hard to get at but the whole row is tilted inward toward the palm making it comfortable to use. I use mainly the top two rows and save the bottom for extra keys just because I rarely need more than ten but with the short palm setting and the bottom row easy to use anyone 8 to 12 years old will be able to find this comfortable as well as adults. The keypad is backlit in razer green and can be dimmed or shut off completely. The software is easy to use and any keyboard key can be assigned to any keypad key. Overall it's comfortable, and just an all around great gaming keypad and I recommend it to everyone who games. If I was still in the market I'd definitely buy another one.

I have been using these since Nostromo and this one is a nice improvement. I love that they took out the scroll wheel and put in another button, way more useful.

My only complaint is the thumb button below the thumb pad (defaults space). The old setup was better, this thing is flimsy and because it sticks out as it does it is forever hitting the side of my keyboard and then doesnt get pressed when I press it.
