Unlevel the Playing Field

The Razer Sabertooth Elite Gaming Controller for Xbox 360 is the supercharged successor to the award-winning Razer Onza. Now, it has been restructured with even more customizability and control options in an all new, rugged design that doesn’t compromise comfort.

An unprecedented six additional multi-function buttons – two at the shoulders and two removable rocking switches at the bottom of the controller – allow you to react to any situation or enemy instantaneously by putting more power right at your fingertips. The Razer Sabertooth lets you reconfigure your choice of buttons elsewhere on the controller to any of the six multi-function buttons.

With an integrated OLED screen on the Razer Sabertooth, you get ease of customizability over the controller’s multitude of features. From programming the multi-function buttons, to adjusting the analog stick’s sensitivity, and creating profiles, you’ll be setting the controller up just the way you want it.

The best professional gamers are masters of their equipment, not the other way round. The Razer Sabertooth was made to make sure you’re perfectly set up for winning.

Six additional fully-programmable buttons

The Razer Sabertooth is no ordinary controller, as it features six additional buttons – two at the shoulders and two removable rocking switches at the bottom of the controller. Reconfigure controls found elsewhere on the controller to these multi-function buttons ergonomically positioned right at your fingertips. This design increases actuation speed, reduces fatigue, and encourages natural hand posturing for a more precise and comfortable gaming experience.

Cross platform connectivity

Whether it’s the Xbox 360 in the living room or the PC in your bedroom, The Razer Sabertooth works across both platforms with ease. With built in memory you can now take your customized settings with you and simply plug and play to your device of choice. The Razer Sabertooth is compatible with Windows 8/ Windows 7 / Windows Vista / Windows XP (32-bit).

OLED for ease of customizability

With a built-in OLED screen, the Razer Sabertooth allows ease of customizability over the controller’s multitude of features. Program the multi-function buttons, adjust the analog stick’s sensitivity and save profiles; whatever you choose to modify, the display will visualize your preferences.

Multi-function fun

The Razer Onza featured 2 additional shoulder multi-function buttons that were fully programmable to any other button on the controller, allowing gamers to rebind commands for easy reach. We took this a step further with the Razer Sabertooth – not only adjusting the position of the shoulder MFBs to reduce the chance of mis-pressing the bumper buttons, but also adding two additional 2-way rocker switches underside the controller, for a total of 6 additional multi-function buttons.

Forged for improved reliability and mobility

The Razer Sabertooth has been designed from the ground up to cater to the demanding needs of gamers. From the selection of materials used for the buttons, triggers and analog sticks, to the stringent quality control checks, processes are put in place to ensure that the Razer Sabertooth continues to dominate, game after game. Also featured is a fully detachable, lightweight cable that securely screws onto the controller, and an included carrying case to take it everywhere you go without worrying about cable breakage.

Pro gamer validated

“Being heavily involved throughout the development of the Razer Onza and now the Razer Sabertooth was a great experience which allowed Razer to tap into the knowledge I have gained from countless hours of gaming at the highest level of competition. Through my experiences as a professional gamer I was able to identify exactly which features and ergonomics would be crucial on a tournament grade gaming controller. The reworked analog sticks coupled with the use of the multi-function buttons allow me to maximize my ability to maintain precise movements and pinpoint.”Kendall ‘arCtiC’ Smith – founder and captain of Team AmazYn, professional Gears of War gamer.

So I ordered the Sabertooth the day it was first available, I think it was January 5th. Needless to say it immediately sold out, and has been sold out since. It finally shipped on the 27th to arrive on the 30th.

First Impressions from an Onza owner: Having had 6 Onza replaced over 2 years, I was ready to write off Razer. So far the Sabertooth has changed my mind.

It makes the Onza feel like a cheap toy from the dollar store. The construction feels much better. It feels more like an official Microsoft controller from the thumb sticks to the now rounded triggers. It doesn't creek or flex when you hold it tight like 4 of my Onza did. The weight feels lighter but stiffer than an Onza (still has the grip coating on the plastic that the Onza TE did).
The screw in cable is a nice touch, but younger users might be prone to damaging the pins when trying to assemble it. The D-Pad is a huge improvement, I don't play fighting games but I downloaded a few demos on Xbox live just to compare it to the Onza. Again, it was night and day... no thumb fatigue or pain when performing "moves" and they actually registered.

I'll add to this as I test it out more thoroughly. I've only had it 24 hours. So far though, I'm very glad I didn't purchase the MadCatz or Fus10n controllers.

PS: FPS Freek's fit the thumb sticks perfectly.

EDIT: Another day, more info to add.
The OLED screen feature is fantastic. I can on-the-fly make each of the two thumb sticks more or less precise. Unlike the Onza (that used mechanical tention thumb sticks that were the culprit of 3 of my failed Onza) the Sabertooth does this all digitally, so the feel is the same. Imagine setting the "sensitivity" in-game higher or lower...

If you're going to use this on a PC, the six additional buttons are not separate inputs. They can only be mapped to other buttons on the controller. So, you're not actually getting six extra buttons.

Just wanted to warn any other would-be buyers.

After a couple days the right trigger does not work properly. I returned it thinking maybe I just got a bad one. After receiving a replacement controller, same thing. One day and the right trigger does not function properly. It is not reliably registering when you press it. After coming back to Amazon and searching "right trigger" in the reviews I noticed there are many others that have the same problem. This could be a great controller if it were not for this problem. Unfortunately it's literally useless as the right trigger is a pretty important button in most games.

I can not recommend this with this problem happening to me on two different controllers and being so common with other users.

NOTE: I am able to program the right trigger to one of the extra buttons as a work around until I find a different controller I want.

Simply put this controller offers some amazing features. In total, I placed an order for TWO of these under the recommendation of a friend who raved on and on about this specific item and how wonderful it is.

That was AFTER I had owned two of the lesser models that are sold by Razer Onza, that were bought at Best Buy.
Im going to be crystal clear on this. Because after owning FOUR controllers from this company there is one thing for certain.

Their quality control is ATROCIOUS.
The two "lesser" models of the "Razer Onza tournament edition" which are selling for a WHOPPING $150 dollars are not only not worth 20 bucks and they failed to function after 3-4 months of about 40 hours of game time, THIS model you are looking at right here failed to work after 5 months of use with even LESS time spent on it because I treated it as if it was made of glass and it STILL suffered from the problem that plagued the lesser models. So, after it wasnt working I brought out the second one that had NEVER been used after the first one broke and the second one that was never used was broken RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX.

All four controllers analogs were disfunctional within 40 hours of game time or LESS. Thats four controllers, two different model types... ALL WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.

And this company has the audacity to charge over 50 dollars for these? They dont work after 40 hours or less of game time.

Thats not coincidence.

Thats a bad company selling bad products across the board.

First I'll start by saying I have used this controller extensively on Halo 4 for now over a year and feel that I am qualified to post my review. Let me start off with a list of current Razer products I have bought and used to show my experience with the company and to produce some credibility.

Razer Naga wired MMO mouse
Razer Orochi mouse
Razer SWTOR mouse
Razer Lycosa keyboard (I own 2 of these)
Razer SWTOR headset
Razer Carcharias headset
Razer SWTOR mouse pad
Razer Kabuto mouse pad

So as you can see I have spent a lot of money and also purchased these items directly from Razer on their Amazon store or at Best Buy. That being said after using these products for the past two years or so I want to warn people of their customer service and general lack of build quality. For example my Lycosa keyboards have to be unplugged about once every day because at some point during use the keyboard will input one key infinitely until unplugged. I dealt with customer service and did all the troubleshooting and to this day the problem still hasn't been resolved. Just imagine being in a PVP battle only to have your keyboard only output the A button and leave your character spinning in circles. Would say in the past year this type of incident has occurred at least 100 times. Including in Microsoft Office and general internet use.

The next issue I experienced was with the Carcharias headset. I purchased the product to use on 360 but accidentally ordered the item only compatible with PC. Again talked to customer service the day the package was received and they charged me a shipping and restocking fee. My fault on this one but still after spending an absurd amount of money on their products I continue to be treated poorly.
