5.0 out of 5 stars A must have to improve happiness :)
By Ron in NY on August 7, 2020
Since buying my daughter a razor electric moped (razor pocket mod euro) I have been looking to pick something up myself to share in the fun...

The razor ecosmart metro seemed to fit the bill and had great reviews so I bought that to and I am glad I did!

From unboxing to fully together/functional took about 15 minutes, very simple. It came fully charged so I took it for a test ride immediately and let me tell you I had not had a smile on my face like that in quite some time!

Its a peppy little buggar, built solid too! And the sheer joy of cruising the back (neighborhood) roads with my daughter is priceless!

Thanks Razor for making daddy/daughter time a blast!

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun but slower, louder and heavier than other E-Scooters - 3.5/5
By So Long Dental Plan on August 3, 2020
After rolling the dice and buying the Hiboy S2 electric scooter (a stand up e-scooter on Amazon that does 17+ mph with a 10 mile range) for $380 that I was surprisingly happy with- I decided I wanted another scooter to ride with friends and fam when they came over. Bear in mind that there are other electric scooters ranging from $200-$300 out there- I believe Razor and other companies makes some- but those are straight up kids toys. Slow , no range children's toys. This Razor Eco Metro (at around $400+) and the Hiboy S2 ($380+ with their coupon) are about the cheapest "actual" E-scooters out there and are both well worth the extra $100 from the cheaper options.

I learned all this when I thought- "I wonder what other cool, fast electric scooters are out there?”.
I landed on this Razor Ecosmart scooter because it was the only other electric scooter under $500 advertised at going 18 mph.

Assembly took only a few minutes. Plugged in the charger- the light was green but I let it charge for a few hours anyway. They recommend you let it charge for “12 hours” out of the box.. So that’s the first bad thing right there.. takes almost 5 times longer to charge than the HB2.

Take it for the first ride. The motor makes a lot of noise when accelerating. It’s not gas engine loud.. but compared to the virtually silent Hiboy- it's loud.. Kind of sounds like an electric RC car- annoying sound it makes.

There’s no light, bell, speedometer or battery percentage like other, less expensive and faster moving and charging e-scooters on amazon. And the low battery indicator only turns yellow and indicates a low battery when you are accelerating.. when you stop it goes back to green and doesn't indicate a low battery.. can be misleading in terms of how much battery you have left.

The included rack and basket are cool. And the wide deck is nice.

This scooter may be your best option only if you are going to be continually hauling around a few pounds of stuff with you. I could see this being nice for going back and forth to the beach with a cooler and chair or fishing supplies ect. I attach a small 4 wheelbarrow to the seat bar and tow stuff with this.

The seat is adjustable and basically removable which is cool- but you can’t really comfortably use it as a stand up because you can’t raise the handlebars.

This scooter handles pretty well and feels really comfortable to ride and steer. The brakes are nice and responsive so far.

My biggest complaint would be that It feels slow. It does NOT go 18 mph. No way. The reviewers here saying it goes “over 20 mph” are straight up lying. Yeah maybe if you are accelerating straight down a steep hill.. But on flat ground this maxes out at 16 mph if even that. Hiboy 2 gets ahead of this Razor. I wish this thing was powerful enough to actually go about 20 mph because it really is comfortable to ride. But for commuting medium distance, city tight navigating or just for fun “speed” cruising.. this comes up short.

Next biggest complaint is that it weighs a ton and doesn't fold up. It is a pain in the *** to fit this in a small car or sedan.. but it does fit in the trunk of a 2006 Honda Civic.. barely.

In summary- it’s slower, louder, heavier, not as portable, has a shorter lasting battery and a longer charging time... and is more expensive than other e-scooters on Amazon that actually go 18mph and have a much longer use time.

Update - After using this scooter for months I like it more and bumped up my review to 3.5 stars- Perhaps I was and am still unfairly comparing it to the Hiboy 2 scooter. The big tires make going over bumpy ground and cracks breezy.. (it’s much better than the HB2 in that regard) and you can ride on grass or dirt and carry things in a basket- which the HB2 can’t do at all.. so that alone is cool. And what has become my favorite thing about this scooter.. the ability to attach a 4 wheel Gorilla cart to the back rack and tow a surprising amount of weight. I can tow up to 50 lbs in the wheelbarrow (plus myself at 190 lbs) at a modest speed. I'll tow even more weight sometimes. Now I don't know how good it is for the motor to haul that much weight (so be careful).. it definitely slows down when towing.. but no signs of it permanently damaging or burning out motor.. yet. In fact- I have filled the wheelbarrow with 200+ lbs of gravel and towed it. She went about 3 MPH, hah, but the scooter was moving and towing the packed wheelbarrow with no effort on my part (on flat ground of course). I have also hauled the same amount of weight while walking along next to the scooter and steering while pushing slightly.. it works great at assisting with the load and moves much quicker. This Razor really mainly functions as a work horse for me and it's pretty great. (Again.. I cannot assume it is good for the motor or scooter in general to do this.)
This scooter would be close to perfect except for a few things the Hiboy 2 Max does better -

- Slower than advertised (only 15 MPH on flat ground for 190 LB rider) If this thing went 5 mph faster it would be perf (worth noting that while the Hiboy 2 is also not quite fast enough- it is slightly faster than the Razor )
- Noisy motor
- No battery percentage indicator or speedometer and a misleading low battery light.
- Does not fold up. Very heavy and bulky, very difficult to fit in sedan car (the Hiboy 2 folds up and can easily fit in the trunk or backseat of a small car)
- Range only 5-8 miles max, sometimes much less.
- Power switch not being on handles but under deck
-Kick stand starts to spin after a while- even after tightening and can rub against tire.
- More expensive

Better than the Hiboy Max 2 in a few ways though

- Bigger tires can handle bumps and cracks and provide a much smoother ride than the HB2
- Rides surprisingly well on dry grass or dirt paths
- Has a seat
- Has a rack
- Has a Basket for Rack
- Can attach certain wheelbarrows to the rack and tow a good amount of weight **May not be good for motor**
- Wood deck and white frame looks real nice (if you remove that Razor grip tape and all other stickers)
