The high-performance, electric powered Razor MX650 Dirt Rocket is ideal for teens (ages 16 and up) who want to enjoy an authentic dirt bike experience without breaking the bank. The Dirt Rocket's powerful motor carries riders at speeds of up to 17 miles per hour--more than enough for most bumpy dirt trails--and can cruise for up to 10 miles (or 40 minutes) on a single charge. At the same time, the bike's dual suspension and riser handlebars deliver a smooth and comfortable ride regardless of the terrain, so the fun isn't restricted to flat pavement. As a final bonus, the Dirt Rocket's variable-speed, chain-driven motor is extremely quiet, a marked contrast to traditional gas-powered motocross bikes.

Other details include 16- and 14-inch pneumatic knobby tires for a maximum power transfer, authentic dirt bike frame geometry, Supercross inspired design, and folding metal foot pegs. The MX650, which requires roughly eight hours to fully charge, offers a maximum weight limit of 140 pounds. It's also backed by a 90-day warranty.

My kids has rode this bike non stop since the day it arrived!!! I had to install the handle bars and front tire, i also checked over all nuts and bolts. This took 10 mins. and then the battery had to charge....(my kid was wanting to ride right then) BUT when he did ride it.....He loved it!!!! I like the fact that there is NO NOISE and the speed tops out at like 22 mph. PERFECT for an 8 yr. old boy!!! All of his friends have now bought them.....500's and the 650 and the 650 is ALOT faster than the 500!!
These bikes are tough and take a beating!!! My kid has dumped it like 4 times and NOTHING has broke yet!!!
MY only complaint is the decals!!! they start to peel off from the 1st ride!! Not that big of a deal...I went out and bougt Suzuki stickers and now it looks like a factory ride!
The disc brakes are GREAT and stop on a dime!! The tires are wearing down fast since the kids mostly ride on the sidewalks and street!
I like the bike and am glad i bought a RAZOR rather that a cheap china replica from Ebay!

Bike appears to be solid with the exception of the rear wheel sprocket assembly. It seems to be a common problem with this bike. After one week the rear wheel fell apart. Motor spins and the rear sprocket turns but the wheel does not move. Called customer service and Razor is shipping a new wheel. I'm pretty sure this will happen again as it's a very poor design. From what I can see there is no good alternative replacement parts. After the 3 month warranty period is over you are stuck buying a new wheel. Bike is used by a 6 year old around the house. Stay away from this garbage. If Razor would fix the rear wheel design this would be a great toy and I would give it 5 stars. In my opinion it's unacceptable for a toy like this to fall apart after one week of light use.

7/19/11 UPDATE: As predicted the rear freewheels broke again (one week after being replaced). Called Razor again and they are shipping a new wheel. After investigating the issue closer I decided to take the broken wheel to a local shop and weld the freewheel solid. This will eliminate the freewheel problem. It's not a perfect solution but it should get the job done and keep my son happy. I will post an update once it's tested.

10/29/11 UPDATE:
Found a reasonable fix to my rear freewheel problem. I welded the rear sprocket solid and it works great but I wanted to investigate other options. Since I had few spare rear wheels (Razor warranty replacements) I purchased a brand new freewheel from ElectricScooterParts for $12 (I chose the cheaper one that looks like a bicycle rear sprocket. It replaces the original freewheel and the original bigger sprocket bolts right on top of it. The new sprocket work great, much stronger and more reliable. My son used the same unit the entire summer without any issues.

This is a great bike. My 11 year old son loves this bike and rides it almost everyday. The bike has a tremendous amount of power. I weigh 190# and it carried me well on an initial test drive. My 11 year old son who has been riding electric bikes for several years does terrific on this bike. He weighs 65 pounds and is 55" tall. The bike seems to be perfect for him based on his size and experience riding. The bike is interesting in that it is extremely powerful but size wise is designed for kids 9-12 years old. The box says 16 and up, which is ridiculous. The bike seems well designed and has a nice suspension system and dual disk breaks. The price is unbelievable for what you get but I would only recommend it for kids 9- 12 who have experience riding other powered bikes. The tires are pneumatic however they are very hard and knobby. They are fine for off road use but a slip out fast on slick pavement. Over all a great bike for experienced 9-12 year olds who have a non paved surface to ride on. We didn't experience any problems mechanically or electrically.

We have bought 5 different types of Razor electric scooters and bikes for our 6 children and they have all held up well. This model was bought for our 11 year old son. It gives him the feel and look of a real dirt bike, without the danger. It has enough speed for him to be able to handle without it being too much. Nice size too. Goes about 15-17 miles per hour and even though it says it runs about 45 minutes straight on a charge, ours runs approx 1 1/2 hours on a charge. Guess that varies with weight. Razor seems to hold up and their customer service is great too! They go out of their way to satisfy the customer.

I was a little apprehensive about the MX650, wondering if it would be too much for an 8 year old to handle. It's not - in fact it's about perfect for him. I'm glad I didn't get the MX500 - I think that would have been underpowered. After watching him (and his friends) ride the bike for several days, I am no longer worried about safety. They can all handle the bike without problems. It provides enough speed, power, and run time to be fun and challenging, without presenting an unacceptable risk. We've had kids of all ages and sizes try it out. Kids between about 75-110 pounds and 54-65 inches tall seem to do just fine on the bike - it's a nearly ideal solution for them. But it is perhaps a bit small and underpowered for kids over 110 pounds and over 65 inches or so - it carries them just fine, but they get frustrated when it won't go very fast with them.

I'm very impressed with the MX650's quality. It is built to last, with a strong steel frame and rugged components. I'm sure it can take a beating for years and still go strong. Razor definitely put quality and durability first - it is refreshing to get a product that is well thought, well constructed, and built for frequent and long term use. Charging is a bit time consuming, but that's the nature of current battery systems.

If you're looking for a powered two-wheeler that is something more than a simple toy, but something less than a full-blown motorbike, and the intended user is in the large 8 year-old to a small 12 year-old range, I definitely recommend the MX650.
