I purchased this for my son for Christmas last year. I chose the off road model because we live in the country with a long gravel driveway. While it worked well for our area it broke after at the end of the first summer (and he really didn't play with it too much in winter). He only got six months of use out of this. Fortunately I purchased the Square Trade protection plan and because Razor only offers a 90 warranty they are refunding me the purchase price.

My son wanted a hoverboard for Christmas, but changed his mind after he fell off of his cousin's, so this was the alternative. He rides it to school from our property, across a small trail, and over to the school and we haven't had any issues yet. It's been cold, so he doesn't ride on days where it's expected to be below freezing, but he's ridden it on days where it's above 32, locks it up, and rides it home in the afternoon. It keeps it's charge all day and the wheels do well for where he needs to go. Assembly was easy and fast with our Prime membership. I would purchase this product again.

Should be fun to use not just deadly. Only one speed -FULL ON ! No teen can stay on for more than 5 seconds. I guess if that's the game, see who can stay on longest, like bull riding. Another waste of money. Sits in the corner, all the kids are scared of it. What's really funny is that recently this city has been flooded with thousands of scooter rentals, every store has a stand of a dozen scooters any kid can check out, And take in the street. They Work Correctly ! Just Razor is trash.

Runs Fine, But Too Short, and Only One Speed

Waaaaa - less than 2 months of use and it is broken. The disk break is rubbing. I'll call tomorrow to see if they will fix it but warranty says they aren't liable for problems caused by use of the product... huh?

Scooter is great for my teenager who broke his foot and is wearing a boot. He uses it to get around the neighborhood. His main complaints are:
1) It is too short and can't be adjusted so the handlebars are higher (and kid is about 5'9")
2) It only has one speed - it is either full speed, or the motor is off - you can't go slow. So you are either having to go fast, or it jerks back and forth as you push it on, then pull back and the motor goes off.

One the positive side, the sidewalks in our neighborhood are made of bricks, and are pretty bumpy and rough on wheels (strollers & roller skate wheels get worn out quickly). This scooter seems to handle them well (which is why I got the "Off Road" variety).

Out of the box lemon?

My son was so excited when this arrived in the mail, he waited a couple of weeks for it to arrive. When it arrived he waited an additional day to because per instructions you have to charge it for at least 12 hours out of the box, fine. When he started riding a few minutes later he said something is wrong with the front wheel. It appears the front bearing came dislodged! This causes the wheel to wobble side to side and could be dangerous. This is an “off-road” scooter and he was riding it on a mild sidewalk. He wasn’t doing jumps or anything crazy. He’s 9 years old, maybe 75 pounds. Not sure what happened here??? I contacted the phone number on the manual for Razor company and told them the situation, they required proof of purchase and the barcode number on the scooter. They said they would send me a replacement wheel and it would arrive in 2-3 weeks. That’s cool, but I must say I was pretty disappointed. We spent 265.00 dollars on this thing and it hardly lasted the first run. What’s the deal!!?? While waiting for the new part to arrive, I figured out how to disassemble the front wheel and gently hammered the bearing back into place. Note worthy observation when reassembling the wheel: there are 2 bearings, there is a gap between the bearings in the center of the wheel, I believe there should be a spacer when there’s a gap between the bearings on the inside and I think that’s why they came dislodged. Perhaps this was an error during manufacturing? The only spacers were on the outside of the bearings. You’ll have to remove the wheel from the frame, then you should deflate the tire. With tire deflated and removed, you will have to remove the plastic rim/whee clamping the tire and bearings. Once this is done you can gently hammer the bearings back into their sockets. I used a hammer and socket wrench attachment for this. It seems to be riding fine on a test run after my fix. We’ll see how it goes this weekend. I still have a replacement wheel coming which is fortunate. My kid still loves it. Super fun for him, but out of the box I’m disappointed in this product. For the extra cost of having an “off-road” version, you’d think they would make this more sturdy. This review is for the RX200 razor scooter.

Tires came flat, so i had to take the front tire off only to find a huge rip in the tube. Someone was careless when they are installing the tube into the rim, the rim pinch the tube causing it to tear. Now i have a very disappointed seven-year-old that received this from Santa and I have to explain to him that we have to wait to repair it very disappointing on Christmas Day.

Pure crap! Work great for a month then the battery deteriorated quickly and wouldn't take good charges. Kids loved it while it worked but that didn't last long (< 6 months). I'll never by another one. Extra protection by Asurion was also a total rip-off. The plan doesn't cover out-of-box damage or batteries I was told-- and I'm sure a 100 other things as well. Hate both, never buying it again.

Love the larger knobby tires and good disk brake. Weigh limit says 150 lbs. That is what i weigh and it carries me up my red granite inclined lane. It was bought for the grandkids and they have a hard time sharing it because it is fast and fun. We are in the country and works fine on dirt paths too. Kickstand is a nice addition. Battery port easily reached for charging. Everything as described. Only have to slip the handlebars in the slot and tighten. Charge up the battery like it says to do, but didnt need it, and have some crazy fun.
