About the Author
Laurinda Reddig has been crocheting left-handed most of her live, teaching crochet for over a decade, and is now publishing her designs and articles in popular crochet magazines and books. She designs and writes while at home with her two young children. Her children are her muses, inspiring both of her CGOA award winning designs, which helped her develop the new Reversible Intarsia Technique. After the loss of her second baby, she started the Remembering Rowan Project to donate handmade blankets to local babies and children in need in memory of her daughter. A percentage of proceeds from this book will be used to fund Rowan’s Milk, a project she is organizing to provide education on Lactation After Loss to other mothers who have lost a baby. Reasons that I recommend this book:
*You can purchase it in either right-hand or left-hand format. If you select left-handed, as I did, you will find the ENTIRE book is presented for the left-handed person. Most craft books offer either a recommendation to `use a mirror' or at best present a few basics in pictures for lefties. This is a real time saver and allows for easier and faster learning. I am a visual learner and really appreciate this.
*Clear instruction is given on crochet basics, pattern reading and finishing processes.
*The printing is of high quality. The pictures are all in color and of a size where stitches are clearly demonstrated. Technical tips and pattern reading tips are in colored boxes for quick reference.
*A variety of stitches is presented in a progressive order that builds on your understanding of crochet technique and creating more complex patterns. Something that is particularly helpful is the presentation of each stitch is inclusive and gives photos of interim hook positions rather than just a superimposed arrow hovering over the starting position photo. This allows you to immediately understand the hooking process for the stitch in all phases.
*If you work through the book as presented you end up with an end product, an attractive afghan.
This is a real find for the left-handed person looking to learn crochet.
